Over the last nine years, Silverfit has been able to offer exercise to everyone over 50 in Brockwell Park. Together with Silverfit, I have done my best to keep the exercise fun for everyone, no matter if you are fit or not so fit, strong or not so strong, sporty or not so sporty. And, over all, I think we have done that pretty well! We have had some glorious years, and we made many, many friends over that time. Silverfit managed to keep it going through the good times and the hard Covid years, but unfortunately, the reality of the current economic climate is hitting Silverfit hard. Many councils and charities that have supported Silverfit over the years have stopped funding, and without funding, Silverfit just simply cannot keep going. Recently, they have had to take the hard decision to cut quite a number of their activities, and unfortunately, Nordic Walking in Brockwell park is one of the sessions that needs to be stopped. Yesterday afternoon was our last session for Silverfit. But…. I aim to keep your Tuesday walk going! So many of you love our Tuesday session, and it would just be too sad to stop completely. I would like to keep the Silver Tuesday session going under my own company, Fit and Happy Outdoors. Sadly, I cannot do this for free, as I do need to make a living. But in order to keep this session available for everyone, I plan to keep our Tuesday afternoon session at a highly reduced rate compared to my normal rates. New rates for our Silver Tuesday walks: 10 sessions for £45 (my normal rate is 10 sessions for £90). For those of you who struggle financially, I am happy to reduce this rate to £30, or even offer it for free. I can of course only do this if enough of you pay the normal rate, and I trust you will only ask for a reduction if you really need it. As I said, I do this for my living, but I don’t want money to be the reason you miss out on the benefits of Nordic Walking and spending time with our lovely group of friends. Have ever wondered what it's like to breathe underwater? This is an ideal way of experiencing the under water world without having to commit to a PADI course like for example the PADI Open Water. You will be assisted by excellent qualified instructors who are trained to offer you the best experience and make you feel comfortable in the water allowing you to enjoy the experience. During the scuba diving try dive experience you'll learn how to use scuba equipment in a warm pool and get a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world. There is nothing like breathing underwater for the very first time. It is the perfect preparation for the PADI Open Water Course. You learn the basics you need to dive under the direct supervision of one of our PADI Professionals. Learn what wearing scuba equipment feels like and how easy it is to glide around underwater while wearing it. Learn some basic skills and safety rules that will carry over to your full scuba certification course when you take the next step. PADI REFRESHER DIVE/REVIEW - £100.00 If you are looking to go on holiday soon and have not dived for over a year then you will want to consider completing a scuba diving refresher course. This course will give you the confidence again prior to any planned holiday. Most dive centres around the world will insist that you complete a Scuba Review if you haven't dived for 12 months or longer. The course normally takes 3-4 hours. Please remember to bring along your PADI certification card and log book. PADI REACTIVE – This is the full PADI Refresher which includes refreshing of the theory as well. POOL SESSION - £30.00 If you are looking to just spend time in the water and you are already qualified as PADI Open Water then you can join us for this session and spend time in the pool testing out kit and practicing. Local Dungeon Masters/Games Masters will be running three or four games every Tuesday. These will be straightforward "turn up and play" games, where pre-generated characters will be provided for you - All you need to bring is your imagination! Ideal for newcomers, but more experienced players absolutely welcome! Please note that we will increase the Meetup cap upwards from 10 once we have sufficient volunteer GMs for this event. **Dracula will arrive in Whitby on a schooner in August. With no schooners in London, we shall be visiting a clipper; the famous Cutty Sark ship in Greenwich!** Cutty Sark was built in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1869. On its maiden voyage, the ship departed London on 15 February 1870, bound for Shanghai. On this outward voyage the ship carried a general cargo, including wine, spirits and beer and manufactured goods. It returned with a cargo of tea. In 1954 the ship was towed into a specially built dry dock in Greenwich. We start our walk outside the Eventim Apollo (most famously known as the Hammersmith Odeon / Apollo) and make our way to the river. This 5-mile walk plans to take in Queens tennis club and three cemeteries in the area, as well as all the lovely houses, parks and pubs along the river. The cemeteries include Margravine, Fulham and Brompton where there are some famous people buried which we hope to find. We will also go past Craven Cottage and the new Fulham pier and Bishops Park. We will end this walk at the new Wetherspoons (created out of the former railway station entrance) on Fulham Broadway. This is a new walk for the group to explore a hidden part of the district. Established way back in 1870 in Cincinnati, this historic, family-owned brand is famous for their delicious small batch ice cream and any chocolate chunk flavors! They are currently the only commercial ice cream maker using the French Pot method that they’ve been using since they first opened! Plus, those chocolate chunks, oh my goodness!
