Nature Journaling For Birdwatchers
For those who love watching birds and wish to capture their observations on paper: Your workshop guide Maximiliána Martišková is a professional llustrator and graphic designer, bird enthusiast and passionate photographer of life. Dive into a world of unexpected details and joy as you attend her popular workshop series.
Nature Journaling is designed to help you turn your field observations into confident drawings, even if you’ve never drawn before. The course leads you from basics of gesture drawing that allows you to express bird movement, through proportions to style, providing you with everything you need to keep a personal birdwatching journal – instead of just filling up pre-printed pages.
What you will take away:
– a sketchbook full of studies, notes and experiments that lead you to explore your favourite journaling style
– a personal system for noting down behaviour, colour and observations
– confidence in creating lively and authentic sketches outdoors
– community of birdwatchers with the same goals
Structure: The workshop takes place Saturdays, 10:00 - 13:00. Each workshop can be attended individually! If you choose to attend regularly, you receive loyalty pricing as a thank-you for the last three classes in the workshop series.

Workshop Shading with Pencil | EN | April
**You like sketching but feel your drawings lack depth?**
**A solid grasp of the basics will definitely help.**
Learn or refine pencil hatching and shading techniques and embrace the potential of a medium as powerful and versatile as the pencil!
Take your pencil skills further with exercises to build tone, texture and volume. We will start from the basics with a broad overview, covering pencil softness, pressure control, angle, tip shape, paper tone and highlights, gradually progressing to more advanced hatching techniques.
This format offers a flexible and supportive approach, adapting to each participant’s level, from helping beginners get started to guiding intermediate artists through their individual challenges.
I am Alessia Sinopoli, an Italian professional artist based in Berlin, and I will be your instructor throughout this journey.
**What we will do step by step:**
**We will combine theory and practice with hands-on exercises.**
Introduction to materials and getting familiar with the tools we will use, exploring the differences between pencils of various hardness and using graphite grades such as 2H, 2B and 6B to achieve a rich tonal range from light to dark.
Hand posture and proper pencil grip for shading, with control of pencil angle.
Pressure control training to learn how to vary pressure and achieve smooth tonal transitions.
Contouring to define the forms with attention to angle and direction.
Layering and blending by building up graphite in light layers, practicing hatching without blending tools to gain full control over tonal transitions, and then experimenting with blending to observe the differences.
Enhancing highlights by using white pens or precision erasers to reinforce the brightest areas of the drawing.
Sketching practice by drawing simple objects such as cherries, spheres or apples, focusing on progressive construction and conscious use of hatching to define form, depth and contrast.
Discussion of common mistakes, identifying frequent pitfalls and learning how to avoid them.
Personalized guidance and open Q&A throughout the workshop.
**Break and refreshments:**
While drawing, we will enjoy some tea. Between the first and second parts of the workshop, we will take a break, a perfect moment to connect, share a cup of coffee and enjoy a sweet treat together (vegan option available).
**What is included?**
**Leave home as light as a butterfly, everything is provided!**
All materials are available for use during the workshop:
graphite pencils of various degrees of hardness,
high-quality drawing paper, precision eraser and erasers,
pencil sharpeners and drawing references.
Refreshments are included: tea, coffee and a sweet treat.
**Who is this workshop for?**
This workshop is for those who want to spend a cozy and relaxing Saturday in a creative environment while learning.
We will engage intensively in shading and learn essential techniques that provide a solid foundation for drawing with pencils.
*A solid foundation gives your creativity room to flourish, helping your drawings become uniquely yours.*
**Location:**
The workshop takes place at Artcave Berlin, an inspiring art studio with a strong focus on community projects, offering kind and welcoming hospitality.
Watercolor: play, flow, let go
A space to slow down, experiment, and reconnect with creativity - without pressure or expectations.
In this 2.5-hour workshop, we explore watercolor through play:
how it behaves on paper, how water and pigment interact, and how different techniques (wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry) create unexpected results.
You’ll start with simple exercises, choose your own color palette, and move into a final piece on high-quality paper - guided, but open.
This is not about being “good” at painting.
It’s about curiosity, intuition, and letting go of control.
For beginners and anyone who feels “I’m not creative”
With a short break (tea & coffee)
Come as you are.
We provide materials, but feel free to bring your favourite colors or brushes if you want.

Portrait Drawing on Sunday Afternoon
This group is for everyone who is interested in drawing portraits!
For me, drawing has been a wonderful way to gain a new perspective on the world and the people within it.
Whether you are just starting out or have been drawing for ages — all levels are welcome :)
How it works:
1\. We meet at The Castle pub in Mitte and do short sittings of 15 minutes for each other\. The first sitting is divided into 3 warm\-up sketches\, 5 minutes each\.
2\. Before we start\, everybody writes their name on a blank card \(provided by the organizer\); these cards are then used to randomly pick the model every 15 minutes\.
3\. Usually we do 8 sittings\, with a 15\-minute break in the middle \(so after 4 sittings\, or 1 hour\)\.
-> The participation is free, but it is expected that everybody orders something from the bar to support the lovely location.
Get out your pencils and let's start!
Please bring your own art supplies!
Drawing Cafe [#17] Coffee & Sketching in Berlin
We meet and sketch each other in Berlin. This is just an art gym that we also exercise our social skills. Afterwards usually we go for lunch as a group.
**How Does It Work?**
This event is simple, we meet and sketch each other doing portraits. Most of the participants use pencils or watercolors. Main aim is to socialize while we draw. There will be plenty of time to talk and get to know each other. We have to mention that this event is suitable for all levels. Many have started to draw in our event actually.
**Structure**
A. Warmup Phase: We pose to each other for 1 minute.
B. Main Phase: We pose to each other for 10 minutes.
C. Showcase Phase: We show some of the drawings we did to each other.
**Who We Are**
Creative Sessions is an art events group located in Berlin.
**Is it Free?**
The event is free of charge.
It is advisable to get a drink though. This is a cafe, we need to have at least half of the people on each table with a drink. They accept only cash and most hot drinks cost from 2.50 to 3.50.
**How to help or donate?**
The event is provided for free but many people help this be a regular thing. We also need people to volunteer and help for minor tasks like the serving of the drinks or cleaning up. Just send us a message.
If you want to donate and keep this event from happening, via Paypal to the host (Miltos) :

**Art Materials?**

The Mindful Artist's Way: Share Your Story
The Mindful Artist's Way is suitable for anyone who wants to write — without pressure, comparison, or the need for perfection. For anyone who wants to discover their own voice or reconnect with it.
This workshop series treats your writing as a mindful and relationship-oriented process. Each session is an invitation to dive deeper into your own perception, voice, and creativity — without pressure to perform, without comparison, without right or wrong.
The focus is on writing as a mindful practice: slow, embodied, and connected. Instead of technique, performance, or optimization, it’s about perception, inner security, and the relationship to your own voice.
Each workshop is self-contained and at the same time part of a larger journey. Step by step, you are invited to build trust: in yourself, in your writing, and in the creative process.
The series is inspired by the mindful and artistic approaches of Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way, but follows its own path: gentle, individual, and realistic. Get to know your writing as a partner rather than just a product.
What to bring: All you need is your laptop or whatever else you want to write on. I have pens, paper, tea, and vegan cake for you. If you like, bring your headphones, because I’ve created an exclusive writing playlist for you.
You can also book the **sessions individually (€15)**
