SOLD OUT • 2ND THOUGHT EXPERIMENT WRITING WORKSHOP: cultivate curiosity :-)
**The creative practice of writing thought experiments gives you the opportunity to:**
* investigate ideas (old and new)
* work your imagination
* write creatively and playfully
* produce compelling conversation starters that you can share with friends and strangers to provoke great discussions
Over the past 3 years, I've written over 200 thought experiments and learned a lot along the way. [Here's a bit more about why I enjoy the practice.](https://experimentsingroupwisdom.substack.com/p/writing-thought-experiments)
**In this workshop,** I'll share my process and together we'll create new thought experiments by:
* Identifying areas of interest
* Gathering ingredients for thought experiments
* Imagining scenarios
* Constructing narratives
* Generating relevant, thought provoking questions
* Participating in a round of small group discussions - you can volunteer your new thought experiment, or if you'd rather, you can pick one out of the hat.
**By the end of the evening** **we'll have**
* had some thought provoking conversations
* become familiar with a new method for creative thinking
* written our own original material for future group discussions :-)
Although we’ll be learning a new technique we'll also be aiming to have **an enjoyable evening, with good humour and fun**. This will be less like school and more like a fun TEiP night out with an additional creative twist.
**Who should come:**
Everyone! We believe that the more perspectives, the richer the conversation. This group is not about being experts, it is about thinking creatively together and learning new ways to develop and communicate ideas.
**Tickets**
Space is limited (15-20) people and tickets are £15.
I'd like to make this event accessible, so if cost is a barrier, please send me a DM.
**Where we'll meet:**
The Fitzroy Tavern in Fitzrovia. The nearest Tube stations are Goodge Street and Tottenham Court Road. We'll be upstairs in the Private Dining Room.
Looking forward to meeting & talking with you!

AI Coding Agents: More than a code generator
AI has changed how we write code.
Now the bigger question is: how does it change engineering itself?
At [Sahaj Software](https://www.linkedin.com/company/sahajsoftware/)'s upcoming Devday in London, [Jyoti Singh](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jyotisingh7/) and [Ash Shakrani](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ash-shakrani/) will explore how AI assistants are being used across the software delivery lifecycle, from story refinement and solution design to implementation and code reviews.
The session will also unpack:
🎯 Where should engineers rely on AI?
🎯 Where should they slow down?
🎯 And how do teams avoid handing over too much?
🗓️ **Save the Date:** 14th May, 2026
📍 **Location:** Sahaj Software, 1 Quality Court, London, WC2A 1HR

The Unscented Transform: Theory and Bayesian Applications
**The Unscented Transform: theory, extensions and practical application to Bayesian inference**
We are delighted to have John Whitamore back at the Bayesian Mixer. Please register here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/bayesianmixer/2154878
**Abstract:** How can we perform Bayesian inference without resorting to slow random sampling methods? Isn't there a nice, pragmatic way to use the geometry of a problem to use only a very small number of samples, placed deterministically? Isn't there a good, straightforward way to implement Bayesian models in practical settings?
This talk explains the real-world problems that can be solved by the Unscented Transform. It begins with an intuitive introduction to Bayesian methods, discusses the Unscented Transform and connects the ideas to geometry, finite elements analysis and deep learning.
**Bio:** John Whitamore is a Senior Data Scientist at Simply Business, a leading UK InsureTech firm. He has previously served as Head of Data Science for a leading food retailer, as Head of Trading and Systems for an investment management company and as Global Head of Convertible Bond Trading for a European investment bank.

Free Human Towers Rehearsal + Social (Sunday)
Sunday rehearsal with Castellers of London. Meet us at the OBC Community Centre to help build human towers!
This get together is a great opportunity for you to meet new friends, socialise and have a go and explore your abilities as a human tower builder a.k.a Casteller!
For newcomers we have a team of trained Castellers who will introduce you to the group, guide you through the activity and help you safely take part in this unique Catalan tradition.
When you arrive just approach us as we are really friendly! If in doubt ask for Cuss! Please let us know if you are bringing guests.
After the rehearsal we go to a nearby pub for social drinks where everyone is welcome :)
What do you need?
1. Ideally a cotton shirt: to protect your neck and shoulders, the more durable the shirt/top the better. We do not recommend any thin items of clothing!
2. Jeans: allowing you to move freely without breaking.
3. Mask: We still require the use of a mask as you will be very close to your fellow Castellers - basically you will be hugging people!
The rest of the equipment is on us!
We take health and safety very seriously, both in relation to COVID-19 and also the activity- please be assured that the safety of all participants is of the utmost importance to us and we take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk, ensuring we all have a great time!
Our regular members won't be filling in the Meet Up to say they are going 🙂
So don't be put off if you see only a handful have said they are going.
A minimum of 25 on the day is normal. What the Meet Up may show is how many new people like yourself are going.
How to be more Charismatic - Unlock the magnetic power of presence
You’ll be welcomed at Pavona Bar by one of our hosts as people arrive. At 5pm, we’ll head downstairs to a private room where the session begins, led by our trainers on the evening’s topic. Group participation is encouraged, with some simple exercises to help you practice conversations in a relaxed, non-judgemental space. Around 6:30pm, we’ll head back upstairs—feel free to stay for a drink and socialise or head off, whatever suits you.
Ever find yourself talking but not really listening, nodding but already thinking about what to say next, or struggling to just... sit still?
This event is your invitation to slow down, drop into the moment, and discover the magnetic power of true presence. The kind that doesn’t need clever lines or perfect timing to make an impact.
Hosted by Your Charisma Coach, this evening is about more than communication. It’s a guided practice in staying grounded, open, and fully connected to yourself, to others, and to the silence in between.
Through simple, powerful exercises, you’ll learn to quiet the mental noise, become more emotionally available, and create space for others in a way that makes them feel truly seen. No performance. No pressure. Just presence.
🔑 **What You’ll Learn:**
* How to stay centered even when your
* mind races or silence feels uncomfortable
* The art of listening with your whole body, not just your ears
* Why your reaction to their reaction is the real source of your power
* Tools so you can relax into the present moment.

13TH ANNIVERSARY!!! - Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you knew Del Close on a personal level, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup** for some fun and games!
The idea behind improv is to create entire scenes from scratch based on a suggestion from the audience. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway*, *ComedySportz*, or *Wild 'n Out*; it could also be done to tell stories, like *Middleditch and Schwartz*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships that'll last a lifetime!
**AND TODAY IS OUR THIRTEENTH ANNIVERSARY!!!** So be ready for a celebration of everything that's made Improv Meetup wonderful: you, the amazing performers!
Ask yourself if you want to join the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**, and say "Yes, And" that you'll have fun!
