Please only RSVP to an event if you fully intend to show. Pulling out of a dinner or another booked event (with a venue) on the day is a kick in the teeth for both the venue and the organiser. I understand there are instances where this is unavoidable, but you are short changing the venue on the revenue they are reliant upon, especially when it comes to paying their staff. At Social Hikes Australia, carpooling is a big part of what makes our hikes possible. Every extra seat means another person gets to join. Fewer cars, easier logistics, and a more social, fun start to the day.
Carpooling is also a great way to meet people before the hike even begins, share a few laughs, get to know each other, and arrive together. It’s simple, social, and one of the best parts of the experience 🌿

If you’ve got spare seats, offering a lift makes a big difference. It helps others join, reduces parking stress and makes the ride more enjoyable from the start.

Passengers are to contact drivers directly using the details provided in the carpool sheet (linked at the top of the description). The sheet shows information from carpooler tickets (Drivers Offering Seats).
✨ **Best practice:** Try to organise your ride before purchasing a ticket to avoid last-minute stress.
**Please note:** Drivers and passengers should stick to the arrangements they make. We do not recommend swapping drivers or cars after you’ve agreed on a ride. If you do decide to change, please make sure all parties are clearly informed and agree to avoid confusion.

It’s always a highlight of the day swapping stories from the trail, sharing laughs, and getting to know your fellow hikers even better over some good food.
Joining is optional, but most people stick around because it’s such a fun way to finish the adventure. Everyone just covers their own meal, and we’ll confirm the spot in the Instagram group chat on the day.
When booking, you’ll be asked if you’d like to join: Yes / No / Not Sure. The organisers will confirm the restaurant or bar on the day, based on feedback.

**🌧 Rain Policy**
If the forecast shows over 15 mm in 6 hours or 20+ mm during the day, we may postpone or adjust the hike to keep things safe and enjoyable. Slippery trails, flooding, and poor visibility are no fun or safe.
We’ll also reschedule for thunderstorms or if trails are still soaked from heavy rain the days before.
Light rain (under 5 mm/hour) is usually fine. We’ll check each hike case-by-case. Safety first 🌿
If it changes and gets heavier, we’ll reschedule for the following Sunday, 17 May 2026, instead.

Saturday Climb
An afternoon at Urban Climb, Blackburn!
If you haven't been to this gym before, you will need to do an induction.
This gym also has a bouldering area.
We typically start with a warm-up session from 2:00 to 2:30 PM before moving on to top-rope or lead climbing - through you’re welcome to start top-rope or lead as you prefer. If you’re looking for the host, they will be in bouldering area during the warmup. You can also spot the host on climbing wall, easily recognizable by a dangling ducks hanging from their harness.
Saturday Meditation & Free Refreshments
Monk led a meditation session for local residents at the Dhammakaya Multicultural Meditation Centre of Melbourne, Camberwell. The session focused on the theme “Stillness of the Mind”, offering participants practical tools to cultivate inner calm and clarity.
The 50-minute guided sitting meditation began with gentle body-scanning relaxation, helping everyone release physical tension and settle comfortably. Participants were then guided to watch the natural rhythm of the breath, allowing the mind to gradually become centred and composed.
Many techniques supported participants in experiencing a greater sense of peace and steadiness.
Westerfolds Park and brunch 🐕🐩
**You and doggies are welcome today for an easy 10km stroll, followed by brunch when we’re finished at a nearby cafe.**
**We’ll meet in the Swamp Gum carpark and start off along the Westerfolds Park circuit track, before we veer slightly off track at the rapids lookout point. Here we leave the circuit path and make our way around to the stunning suspension bridge. We’ll stop for photos and a bit of ‘off lead’ time for the doggies once we’re over the bridge.**
**Then we’ll head back crossing the suspension bridge and re-joining the latter half of the circuit path for the return to the carpark before a short drive to Down The Rabbit Hole cafe for a good brunch.**
**An easy day’s stroll with a good brunch at the end, not too taxing even for the little doggies. You won’t need any backpacks today; Maximum elevation of 80m. Just a water bottle will do.**
**There are toilets and water stops throughout so you won’t need to bring extra for the dogs.**
**The park is accessible by public bus 293 from Box Hill station.**

The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Our primary groups are outdoor movement groups, but we are launching virtual groups for the state of Ohio and beyond and the groups will move outside in the spring, creating room for men's groups, women's groups and coed groups all over the country.
