¡ The Lighthorsemen ¡ by Simon Wincer @ Duncan Library
This Oddball Adventure is set in Palestine during World War I. British forces have dueled the Germans and Turks to a standstill, and the commanders are looking for a way to break the deadlock. An Australian Light Horse regiment is brought into the fray, but their mounts represent both an advantage and a vulnerability: water is scarce, with many of the sources controlled by the enemy. If the Aussies advance and canât secure a copious source of water for the horses, the result will be a catastrophe.

Special 250th Independence Day Weekend Tour!: Hamilton vs. Jefferson, DC!
Hamilton vs. Jefferson: The Great Debate 2026, July 5, 5:45 pm, Willard Hotel DC!
On the 250th anniversary weekend of America, what better time to look at the life of Alexander Hamilton, and the real backstory between him and his chief rival, Thomas Jefferson!
During their time as ranking officials in the first federal Administration, under President Washington, Secretary of State Jefferson and Treasury Secretary Hamilton laid down the dividing lines on many of the issues we still battle over today. Including tariffs, immigration, taxes, scandal, the role of the military and religion, the states vs. the federal government, foreign affairs, and much more.
This unique tour of the White House area of the capital they helped found will contrast their dramatically different views; take a look at some of the important episodes in their eventful lives; and examine which sides they might have taken on the critical issues of today!

The Invite
Let's go see The Invite! The movie is a remake of a Spanish movie about two couples and feels almost like a play. It has both comedic and dramatic elements. It has really great cast and reviews ([94% on rotten tomatoes](https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_invite)).
We may grab lunch or snack afterwards. We will be sitting in F12-F9, try to buy a seat near there and say hi before the film if you can!

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for July is "Shoes"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Open-Table RPG Meetup!
Try new games, meet new people, and find out what story games are all about!
Explore the reaches of space! Witness kingdoms rise and fall! Create and explore tragedies! All within a single game night.
We play story games like Fiasco, Kingdom, Polaris and Microscope that encourage everyone at the table to participate creatively. We also have one-shots of indie, OSR, and narrative-focused RPGs such as Apocalypse World, Dread, Lady Blackbird, and Old School Essentials!
Everybody's welcome! It doesn't matter if you've never tried story games before or never played roleplaying games at all! Just bring your brain and a good attitude and come try it out!
***
**IMPORTANT**
* When you arrive look for the marked Story Games Columbus Tables. Each table will have a separate game. Seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
* If all tables are full, look for a Facilitator. We will find a way to get you into a game!
* There is a flat $3 cover charge for events at Tabletop.

**Facilitators!!**

CMG Gives Back: Serve Dinner at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, weâll help âCreate a better worldâ by helping serve those in need. NOTE: Weâre switching it up this time and going with a DINNER shift on Mon, 7/6. Here are complete details and our plan for this event:
FAITH MISSION â GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces.
PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for DINNER from 4:30 to 6:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 4:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
LOCATION: Faith Mission â Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain youâll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to those volunteering at this (or any of our previous or future) CMG Gives Back events!
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
