Like hot springs worldwide, it can have health-healing properties with proper use in moderation, and its natural spring water had once been bottled commercially by [Fraser and Neave](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraser_and_Neave), under the brand name of Seletaris. Since its discovery in 1909, the spring has been through a few changes of ownership and potential redevelopment proposals. The hot spring has a rural rustic feel for visitors to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the modern metropolitan city. Visit the hot springs and soak in it! Mount Datuk (885m) is an extremely popular 1-day beginner hike located in Malaysia, about an hour away from Malacca. The hike takes an average of 2.5h up and 2.5h down. It is not too long, yet challenging and strenuous enough for a half-day hike. There are some very steep parts and the trek requires using your hands. Additionally, there are minor rope sections and ladders near the summit. This trek can be **challenging for beginners** so be prepared for a fun adventurous experience. At the summit, there is a nice view of the surroundings and we can take a break on the rocks and enjoy the wind before descending! After that, the plan is to hunt for some good food in Malacca! If we end earlier, there will be more time for free and easy along Jonker street. Of course within the group, there will be people of various speeds. Those faster can have more time at the summit and wash up first. Please be patient for the slower ones! The intention of the trip is to introduce newbies who haven't tried trekking before so please be patient and welcoming! It is important to be open-minded and sporting enough to embrace challenges! It is a good introduction to those who wanted to scale higher mountains in Peninsula Malaysia. It takes an average of 3 hours to reach summit & 2 hours to descend. The starting part of the trek is in a fruit plantation. However, after a few minutes of trek, the trail leads into vegetated area although tree cover is still quite sparse. After about half an hour of trek, the trail would lead into the forest into CP1 & CP2. The most exciting part of the trail is the 90-degree rock wall at CP3. You can choose either using the ladder or climbing up with rope. It's a paradise for birds to build their nests and you'll get to see the butterflies, dragonflies as well as squirrels roaming around freely in this natural park. With various natural habitats such as open grasslands, freshwater wetlands and a secondary rainforest, the park is a haven for biodiversity and a great place for visitors to enjoy the best of nature. Hiking trails within the park and a chance to walk barefoot during sunset on lovely carpet grass allows nature lovers to discover an array of flora and fauna and experience nature in all its glory. From Tampines Mrt to Pasir Ris mangroves, rivers and parks, our nature lover TLC members will have a chance to enjoy the peace and serenity of the Eco Green Park with its un-spoilt marshlands, flora, fauna as well as listening to the chirping sounds of the beautiful birds that make this untouched natural park their home. Our evening stroll also brings us through the scenic rivers and mangroves along Sungei Tampines and the mangroves where you'll get to see ***herons, egrets, kingfishers etc.*** hunting for fishes along the riverbank.
