Live in Singapore! Apache Kafka® Meetup – Featuring Jun Rao
Live in Singapore! Apache Kafka® Meetup – Featuring Jun Rao
Hello everyone! Join us for an IN PERSON Apache Kafka® meetup on May 18th from 6:30pm, hosted by IMDA in Singapore! **📍 Venue:** IMDA 10 Pasir Panjang Rd, Mapletree Business City Level 5 Events Room 1&2 Singapore 117438 \*\*\* **🗓 Agenda:** * 18:30pm - 19:00pm: Food, Drinks & Networking * 19:00pm - 20:00pm: Jun Rao, Co-founder, Confluent * 20:00pm - 20:30pm: Additional Q&A / Networking \*\*\* **💡 Speaker:** Jun Rao, Co-founder, Confluent **Talk:** Queues for Kafka **Abstract:** Event streaming is great but sometimes it's easier to use a queue, especially when parallel consumption is more important than ordering. Wouldn't it be great if you had the option of consuming your data in Apache Kafka just like a message queue? For workloads where each message is an independent work item, you'd really like to be able to run as many consumers as you need, cooperating to handle the load, and to acknowledge messages one at a time as the work is completed. You might even want to be able to retry specific messages. This is much easier to achieve using a queue rather than a topic with a consumer group. KIP-932 brings queuing semantics to Apache Kafka. It introduces the concept of share groups. Share groups let your applications consume data off regular Kafka topics with per-message acknowledgement and without worrying about balancing the number of partitions and consumers. With this KIP, you can bring your queuing workloads to Apache Kafka. Come and hear about this innovative new feature being added to Apache Kafka 4.1. \*\*\* If you would like to speak or host our next event please let us know! WBS #2 Sunday, 24 May
WBS #2 Sunday, 24 May
A relaxed Sunday brunch with good food, good drinks, and even better conversation. Six seats, one table, and a mix of people you haven't met yet — that's the whole idea. I plan to keep every brunch small on purpose. Six people means everyone gets heard, conversations go somewhere, and you actually leave knowing the people you sat with. **Before you join — a couple of things** This event is carefully put together, and I'd like to keep it that way. Before your spot can be confirmed, please make sure: * Your Meetup profile has your **real name** * You have a **clear photo of yourself** \- not a logo\, not a pet\, not a landscape Once that's sorted, **send a WhatsApp to 8152 7329** to convey your interest. Spots are only confirmed by the host — do not turn up unless you've received confirmation directly from me. **Please read this part** Life happens, I get it. But with only six seats, a last-minute cancellation or no-show leaves a gap that's hard to fill. Out of respect for everyone at the table: No-shows will result in a ban from the group. If you're canceling with less than 48 hours to go, please WhatsApp me first as a courtesy. **See you Sunday.** ☀️

Hearts United: Novena & Fellowship (Catholic Singles 30-45)
You're warmly invited to join **Hearts United** for a special afternoon of **prayer, connection, and community** with fellow Catholics (30-45yo). We highly encourage you to attend the **12:00pm Novena Devotion**, centering our hearts in prayer and reflection. Afterward, we’ll gather for an hour of relaxed **fellowship and mingling** — a chance to meet like-minded individuals who share your faith, values, and life stage. We’ll conclude our time with a **closing prayer**, lifting up the intentions of our group and giving thanks for the new friendships being formed. **Schedule:** ✝️ 12.00pm – Novena Devotion (attend at your own pace) 😄 12.30pm – Fellowship & Mingle (see comment below for location) 🙏 1.30pm – Closing Prayer 💬 **After-Novena Conversations** Let’s take a moment after the Novena to unwind, share our thoughts, and enjoy each other’s company. There’s no set agenda — just friendly conversations about faith, life, and everything in between. If you’re not sure where to begin, here are a few ideas to get things flowing: 🌿 **Faith & Reflection Topics** * What do you find most meaningful about attending the Novena? * What part of today’s homily spoke to you personally? * What helps you stay close to your faith when life gets busy? ☕ **Personal Growth & Connection Topics** * What qualities do you value most in friendship or community? * How do you like to spend your weekends or free time? * What’s something new you’ve tried recently or would like to learn? 💬 **Light & Fun Conversation Starters** * What are your hobbies or interests? * What’s your go-to comfort food after church? * If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? Whether you're new to the group or a returning friend, we look forward to seeing you there! Please feel free to introduce **Hearts United** to friends whom you know would be a great fit for this community. **With faith and friendship, *Hearts United***
