What Breaks When AI Picks Up: Lessons from Voice AI in Australian Healthcare
What Breaks When AI Picks Up: Lessons from Voice AI in Australian Healthcare
**What Breaks When AI Picks Up:** **Lessons from Voice AI in Australian Healthcare** 181 commits. 10 weeks. 28% were fixes. In this session, Dr Kevin Ong, Co-Founder, CEO and CTO of Voral.ai, and Principal AI Consultant at Equal Experts Australia, shares what really broke when AI was deployed on a live phone line handling patient calls in Australian healthcare practices. From phantom bookings and four-second silent gaps that no unit test could catch, to race conditions where callers were simultaneously handled by multiple AI agents - this wasn’t theory, it was production reality. No polished architecture diagrams. Just hard won lessons from the fixes that followed. **Agenda** 5 30 PM - Gates open (Networking drinks & food) 6 15 PM - G-EE-K Talk 7 PM - Q&A 7 15 PM - Networking drinks (and more food) 8 30 PM - Wrap up
50+ Filmmakers/Actors Gather Every Wednesday - Join Us!
50+ Filmmakers/Actors Gather Every Wednesday - Join Us!
Join us every **Wednesday at 5 PM** at the Emporium food court (located behind Grill’d Burger Restaurant in the CBD, not near Melbourne Station) for a dynamic networking event tailored for filmmakers, actors, and film enthusiasts. Afterward, we continue the evening with Happy Hour drinks at a nearby bar and a chance to grab dinner together. Understanding that schedules vary, feel free to join at any time that suits you. Rain or shine, our community has gathered every week for the past year, maintaining a consistent and welcoming environment. Our group has grown remarkably, with a **weekly turnout of over 50 participants**, blending newcomers with regulars to create a vibrant, diverse community. Feel free to bring friends interested in filmmaking; it’s a great way to introduce new faces to our expanding network. Whether you’re a writer, actor, animator, or independent filmmaker, come share your experiences, discuss current projects, or chat about favorite films. This event fosters connections among like-minded individuals, encourages friendships, and opens doors for collaboration. At **7 PM**, we move to The Carlton Club, a five-minute walk away, where we continue networking in a more formal rooftop setting over drinks and food. This change of venue offers an ideal environment to keep conversations flowing. **RSVP** to help us gauge attendance and become part of a growing network of film professionals and enthusiasts. Though the event begins in the afternoon, the relationships you build here can last well into the night and beyond. **What to Expect:** *Our Wednesday meetup is primarily a large networking event for industry professionals. There’s no set theme, workshop, or speaker. It’s a relaxed gathering where filmmakers, actors, and creatives can connect, discuss projects, share needs, and learn from each other. Conversations flow freely around the table, fostering an environment of growth and camaraderie. Beyond Wednesdays, we also host exclusive events such as table reads, cinematography workshops with Panasonic, member screenings, and more. Each week brings fresh dialogues—some participants discuss their weekend shoots, others exchange insights with seasoned producers and directors, and a few engage in filmmaking exercises. It’s a space designed for creative engagement without strict structure or formal oversight.* *Note: Our community emphasizes collaboration, friendship, and goodwill rather than promotional activities. If you wish to promote a workshop, course, screening, or similar event, please contact the organizers first. Promotional privileges are generally reserved for trusted, long-standing members.

## 💘 KISMETRIX \| True Connection [Ticketed Event](https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/july-01-game-on-the-kismetrix-trivia-night-konar-bar-tickets-1991902868099) ### GAME ON — THE KISMETRIX TRIVIA NIGHTDrinks, Banter & Real Connection Hosted by **KISMETRIX \| True Connection** 📍 Konar Bar — Private Dining Room (Downstairs): 483 North Road, Ormond Vic 3204 📅 Thursday, 28 May 2026 🕖 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Venue open late) #### BACK. UPGRADED. AND A WHOLE LOT OF FUN. Never done trivia? Perfect. Neither has half the room. This isn't about what you know. It's about who you end up laughing with by the end of the night. The KISMETRIX Trivia Night is back — and this year we've stepped it up. We now have our own in-house host and an exclusive private room just for Kismetrix guests. Same great energy from last year, but more intimate, more personal, and a whole lot more fun. No speed dating. No awkward mingling. No standing around with a drink wondering what to say. Just teams, trivia, a bit of friendly rivalry, and the kind of atmosphere where strangers become easy company. #### 💫 ABOUT THE NIGHT Tired of the same old bar scene? Not quite ready for a formal dinner event? This is the sweet spot. KISMETRIX \| True Connection was created for people who want something more human — real conversation\, real presence\, and a genuine good time\. The Trivia Night is our most fun and relaxed format\, and it's exclusively for Kismetrix guests\. You'll walk into a private room full of people who: 🎯 Are open, friendly and easy-going 🎯 Want a fun night out that feels natural — not forced 🎯 Prefer real-life connection over swiping 🎯 Are simply here to enjoy themselves and see where the night goes Come for the trivia. Stay for the laughs. See who you meet along the way. #### 🎯 WHAT TO EXPECT You'll arrive to a private room — no general public, just Kismetrix guests. You'll be placed into a small team of around six, the questions will start, and within ten minutes you'll forget you didn't know anyone when you walked in. Expect: 🎯 A welcome drink waiting when you arrive 🎯 A warm hosted welcome so nobody walks in feeling lost 🎯 Fun, accessible trivia rounds — no expertise required 🎯 Rotating teams through the night so you meet different people across different rounds 🎯 A mystery round (yes, really) 🎯 A prize worth playing for 🎯 Plenty of laughs, friendly arguing, and genuinely good company Our in-house Kismetrix host keeps the energy warm and the night moving — so it always feels like a night out with good people, not a structured event. #### 👥 AGE GUIDE 🎯 30-43 · 40–53 · 50+ Kismetrix Trivia Night is open to all singles who are here for a good time and genuine connection. We provide age groups so you know what to expect from the room. The focus is always on good energy and like-minded people — not strict age gates. If you're slightly outside a range and the format feels right for you, you're welcome to book. #### 🎯 WHO THIS NIGHT IS FOR This event is for singles who: 🎯 Want a fun, social night out that's a little different 🎯 Are curious about Kismetrix but want a low-pressure way to start 🎯 Love trivia — or have never done it but like the sound of it 🎯 Want to meet new people without it feeling like a "singles event" 🎯 Are open, friendly, and ready for a genuinely good Thursday night Come solo — most people do. You'll be in good company from the moment you walk in. #### 🍽 FOOD & DRINKS Your ticket includes one standard welcome drink on arrival. Konar Bar has a great food and drinks menu available throughout the night, directly from the venue. Perfect if you'd like to make a full evening of it — and many of our guests do. #### 🎟 TICKETS 🎯 Early Bird — $39 🎯 General — $49 🎯 Last Minute — $59 Welcome drink included at every tier. Spots are strictly limited to 7–8 tables to keep the night intimate and social — early booking is strongly recommended. *Last year's event sold out. Don't sit on it.* #### 💡 WHY PEOPLE LOVE KISMETRIX EVENTS 🎯 No swiping. No apps. Just real people in a real room 🎯 No awkward formats or forced interactions 🎯 A genuinely fun night — even if you come solo 🎯 Exclusively for Kismetrix guests — private room, warm atmosphere 🎯 Hosted by people who actually care about how the night feels Many guests come "just to try it" — and end up staying all night. #### ✨ WHERE THE TRIVIA NIGHT FITS The KISMETRIX Trivia Night sits alongside our Drinks Socials, Elevated Dinners, and Activity Nights as one of our most fun and accessible formats. If you've been curious about Kismetrix, this is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to experience what we do. #### 🔔 IMPORTANT NOTES 🎯 This is a hosted social experience — not speed dating 🎯 A welcome drink is included; additional drinks and food are available at the venue 🎯 Gender balance is carefully aimed for but not always guaranteed 🎯 Respect, boundaries, and good energy are essential at all Kismetrix events 🎯 Tickets are non-refundable but transferable #### 🔗 STAY CONNECTED WITH KISMETRIX \| TRUE CONNECTION 📧 **social@kismetrix.com.au** 🌐 **[www.kismetrix.com.au](http://www.kismetrix.com.au/ "http://www.kismetrix.com.au")** 📱 Follow us on **[Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/kismetrix_/ "https://www.instagram.com/kismetrix_/"), [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559826808523 "https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559826808523") & [Eventbrite](https://www.eventbrite.com.au/o/kismetrix-singles-events-84848288353 "https://www.eventbrite.com.au/o/kismetrix-singles-events-84848288353")** 📄 Important Notice: By registering for this event\, you confirm that you have read and agree to Kismetrix \| True Connection's Terms & Conditions\, Privacy Policy\, Disclaimer and Code of Conduct\. 🤝 Collaborations: collabs@kismetrix.com.au
MEL MLOps Community #18 | Data, Decision and Agentic AI Productivity Paradox
MEL MLOps Community #18 | Data, Decision and Agentic AI Productivity Paradox
We are stoked to announce our next **Melbourne MLOps Community Meetup** of the year! We are bringing you an absolute powerhouse lineup featuring two industry heavyweights. We will dive deep into tracking ML/DS performance using high-impact business metrics over raw statistical metrics. We will also tackle the AI coding productivity paradox and the high-stakes build-vs-buy SaaS dilemma. **🎤 Speakers** We’re thrilled to introduce: **\- Nathanael Lampe**, Machine Learning Manager *at* Bunnings Warehouse. Nat is widely recognised as one of the most brilliant, deeply technical data science leaders. He brings an elite background in advanced data science, now driving the core Data Science team at Bunnings. In his talk, *Data & Decisions,* Nat will explain how in ML, we often focus on model accuracy but it’s a lot harder to measure the decisions a model supports. When we can anchor our ML practice in true business metrics, we are better equipped to ensure analytics projects succeed. **\- Javier Candeira**, Fractional CTO *at* Infoplumbing. Javier is a distinguished veteran of the data, software, and tech consultancy scenes. He brings many years of battle-tested technical and business experience to guiding teams through today's volatile AI landscape. His talk titled: *The Buy/Build Dilemma and the Agentic Productivity Paradox* addresses three red-hot issues in the MLOps community: 1\. Local LLM inference and tooling for small scale teams\. What is too much local MLOps for a 1\-5 person shop? Is local inference only a cost saver\, or are there also capabilies unlocked by the finer\-grained control afforded by operating one’s own models? 2\. The Buy/Build dilemma\. This is a question for every company\, from small SaaS to big corporate\. The abundance of LLM coding tools shifts the balance\. How? 3\. The Productivity Paradox: If Agentic Coding and LLM autocomplete are so great\, where are the great new products? Where’s the programmer productivity going? Javier will showcase some of his NixOS-based MLOps-for-one tools, and will attempt to progress the conversation on these three questions with his own reflections based on personal experience. **Networking** The Melbourne MLOps Community is committed to fostering a space where AI/ML engineers and practitioners can connect, exchange ideas, and build meaningful relationships. Come ready to discuss: * The tools you’re experimenting with * Trends you’re seeing in ML and MLOps * Challenges you’re tackling * Ways to find peer support We’ll have food, drinks, and the perfect space for great conversations — so feel free to bring along anyone interested in ML, MLOps, or AI more broadly. **Agenda** 🍕 **5:30pm** – Networking, drinks & food 🙋 **6:00pm** – Welcome 🎤 **6:10pm** – Presentation by Nathanael ❓ **6:30pm** – Questions for Nathanael 🎤 **6:40pm** – Presentation by Javier ❓ **7:00pm** – Questions for Javier 🍻 **7:10pm onwards** – Networking, drinks & food We’re looking forward to seeing you there! **P.S.** If you can’t make it in person, we’ll be streaming the event via Google Meet. Melbourne Mafia Club Game Night
Melbourne Mafia Club Game Night
🔫Melbourne Mafia Club invites everyone to take part in our game nights 🔫 Mafia is a social deduction game with a competitive element and a lot of fun. Citizens, led by the sheriff, wake up every day to try to guess who mafia is based on the way every player talks and what they do. That is, until the night falls and sinister mafia goes out to hunt. We play by the classic rules of Mafia, 10 players and the judge, which enables clear skill progression, becoming better at the game, earning rating and eventually taking part in tournaments (if that is something you’re into 😉). Mafia is not only a fun way to spend a Sunday, but also a fantastic way to meet new people and become part of a welcoming community. Our regular players come from all kinds of backgrounds and many have made genuine friendships through the club, that go far beyond it. We play in Southbank, mostly on Sundays from 2:30pm. See you there 🙂 If you’d like to know more please feel free to reach out to me here via DMs or the number below and I’ll be happy to share everything ☺️ We also have livestream recordings if you wanna see what it looks like.
Guided Game Night for Beginners Saturday D&D - North Melbourne
Guided Game Night for Beginners Saturday D&D - North Melbourne
**Beginner Dungeons & Dragons Night (No Experience Needed)** Play a fantasy story with a small group. Make choices. Solve problems. Work together. It’s fun, social, and easy because its hosted by a storyteller. **What is this Event** This is a beginner-friendly D&D game. You don’t need to know anything. Most people are new. We teach as we play. **Small groups (limited spots**) Tables of 5–6 players, we wont take anymore than this to maintain a high quality of participants. 12–18 total spots in total. If you see a spot you can make, take it. They fill. **What happens when you arrive** You don’t need to bring anything You’ll be seated shortly after you arrive Most people come alone You will not be the only one. **What you’ll do** Play a character in a fantasy story Make choices with your group Talk, explore, and solve problems Roll dice to determine your success and see what happens (usually shenanigans) Expect to share funny and memorable moments with the people in our network. **What you don’t need to worry about** You don't need to know rules new people won't slow the group down Don't need to bring anything We guide you the whole way (< why this works) **Who this is for** You work a 9–5 and want to meet new people after work or on weekends. You enjoy fantasy stories, books or games You want to try dungeons and dragons You want a curated story games night that will be the highlight of your week. **Frequently Asked Questions... 🕵️‍♂️** **Won't everyone else already know each other?** The only people who know each other are the Dungeon Masters leading each table. We don't allow groups to attend these nights, so at most there is a duo coming who already know each other. Everyone and you are super new to this. **Will I be the only girl at the event?** No, our events are generally 3:1 ratio, most tables I have seen are 2 girls and 4 guys. no promises on any individual night, but you'll find it doesn't impact your enjoyment. **I'm worried I might slow everyone else down?** Not true, pre-filled character sheets take much of the guess work out of learning the game, and the GMs have all taught tens to hundreds of people this game. *The only thing you'll want to remember is the "D20", a twenty sided dice is always used to resolve actions, whether it's picking a pocket, striking a wicked goblin or recalling history on a forgotten ruin.* *Ok, your basically ready now. seriously.* Don't believe me? Come and find out for yourself. **I'm worried I might be too old/too young for this?** so here's what you'll want to know. we usually see attendees anywhere from 19-49 years of age. normally it's 25-35ish as we often curate out events for young professionals and established professionals working locally. But I'll say this: if you get along with a mature audience of respectful people who can collaborate together - you're in for a good time. **Session** 3-hour(ish) game Run by experienced Dungeon Master 2–3 tables each nigh **Before the event** You may get a message from the organiser Please reply to keep your spot **Attendance policy** Cancel early if you can’t make i No-shows or late cancels may lose future spot **Donation** We take small donations to support the event and our hosts **Dinner** Some of us like to hang out after the game for a bit, usually for eats and chats

Play 3-Sided Soccer at Albert Park - mixed - social - all levels - all fitness
Play 3-Sided Soccer at Albert Park - mixed - social - all levels - all fitness
3 Teams. 3 Goals. Hexagonal Pitch. A game of alliance and betrayal in equal measure. We are looking for new players and returning players alike to come play a match. Players of any ability, fitness level or background are welcomed - the game is intended to be fun for a Sunday morning rather than super competitive. If you've never played before, that's okay - the rules are as simple as this: * There's no offside - roam where you will * Defend your goal at all costs * No hands (this is soccer-style football after all) Come down for 9:00am, we make some balanced teams and warm up for the match starting at 9:15. Three thirds are played of 25 minutes each so we're usually done by about 11:00am. All fitness and soccer skill levels more than welcome and encouraged! A note regarding junior players: We very much enjoy and encourage junior players to come along and play however please be aware of the following: * As most attendees are adults, all players must be a minimum of 1.5m tall and 13 years of age. Soccer may have incidental contact when contesting a ball, and we would hate for someone small to be injured as a result of running into someone larger than them. * Any players under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a playing parent or guardian. How to find us - We meet on the astroturf pitch near the Baselball and Hockey clubs in Albert Park. The main location we use is called "Dorothy Coleman Field". If we aren't there then there may be a couple of other locations, [as noted on this dynamic map](https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1JdDwV4AOV5e-xP5d56m16-eu29GlnZQ&usp=sharing) \- generally we will follow in number order\.

[Eric Rico: From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity] (In-Person) #13
[Eric Rico: From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity] (In-Person) #13
Let's get together and listen to **[Eric Rico](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ericrico/)** from Unity3D (**From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity**). A hand tracker gives you joints, not a gesture. This talk shows how you get from raw joints to a "thumbs-up" in Unity: the pipeline that cleans up the data, how a gesture becomes a few 0-to-1 values within tolerance, and why orientation matters as much as finger shape. Includes a live demo of tuning gesture thresholds. Eric also runs the **[Columbus Unity User Group](https://www.meetup.com/columbus-unity-user-group/)**. Check it out! ***Bring your laptop and expect to write some (non-AI-generated) code!*** Food and drinks will be available. **LOCATION:** 6515 Longshore Loop, Suite 300, Dublin, OH 43017 **FREE PARKING:** 6725 Longshore Street, Dublin, OH 43017

Unity GameDev Hangout (Topic TBD)
Unity GameDev Hangout (Topic TBD)
*We'll update this with the specific topic(s) once they're set for the month.* A relaxed, community-driven Unity GameDev meetup. No strict agenda — just developers getting together to talk shop, share projects, and exchange ideas. Some topics that may come up (based on attendee interest): * Frame Debugger & performance tooling * Addressables & additive scene workflows * Input System, localization, responsive UI * AI integration approaches * DevOps & LiveOps experiences * Full lifecycle: idea → cross-platform publishing * Favorite Asset Store tools and hidden gems * Weird Unity quirks we've all run into Nothing is locked in. Bring a project if you'd like, bring a question, bring a lesson learned — or just come hang out and meet other developers. All skill levels welcome. Food and drinks provided.

Board games at The Forge (theme night: unplayed games)
Board games at The Forge (theme night: unplayed games)
This week is national unplayed games week, so we encourage you to break out those shrink-wrapped games you bought on a whim but haven't had a chance to try yet. Do your best to learn the game ahead of time to facilitate the process! let's get those dusty ones to the table! The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~20 per person. Soft drink refills are 1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. Thank you for your continued commitment to providing a fun and welcoming space to veteran, newbie, and rookie gamers in the Columbus area. Parking can sometimes fill esrly. There is additional parking lot behind the neighboring Mexican restaurant that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.
