Blood on the Clocktower in Mitte (advanced level)
**New to the game? Please join our beginner-friendly Sunday event instead!**
Hi folks, this is a special meetup group for the regular Blood on the Clocktower games every Tuesday in Berlin Mitte. This event is aimed at players who are already very familiar with Clocktower - if you have dozens of games under your belt and are excited to play custom scripts with other seasoned players, this is the event for you!
Our group aims to provide a fun and welcoming space to experience this thrilling game of social deception. **We focus on promoting a positive and fun group atmosphere, where players don’t take themselves or the game too seriously, whether they’re heroically winning or spectacularly losing.** Our players follow the code of conduct for the Berlin Board Gamers group and are expected to treat each other with respect and consideration – “killing with grace, and dying with dignity”.
If you are marked as "going" in Meetup and are in your seat at 19:00, your place is guaranteed. All other seats are first come, first served. There is a €3 entrance fee per person to cover the cost of hiring the venue, payable in cash.
We play in English so players should be able to understand and express themselves in English: an exception is possible for one pair of players willing to play together (as a “Revolutionary” pair) where one player can interpret into and out of English. Please let us know in advance if this is the case.
Contract Assertions on Virtual Functions
The next **Berlin C++ Meetup** hosted by think-cell takes place on **Tuesday, May 26**.
Join us for an evening with the Berlin C++ community! This meetup is a chance to step away from your day to day work, meet other developers, exchange ideas, and have real conversations about modern C++ in a relaxed setting.
\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-
## **Talk**
### **Contract assertions on virtual functions**
*Timur Doumler – Citadel Securities*
Contracts assertions were introduced in C++26, but they cannot be applied to virtual functions. To close this gap, we first need to answer the question: how should contracts assertions behave in the presence of inheritance and runtime polymorphism?
In this talk, Timur explores why this problem is harder than it looks. He reviews existing approaches from other languages, such as Eiffel, D, and Ada, highlights why they don’t fully translate to C++, and outlines the key design challenges involved.
He then presents a concrete proposal for how contract assertions on virtual functions could work in C++, balancing correctness, safety, and usability.
Along the way, the talk touches on good API design, the true meaning of the Liskov substitution principle, and how to reason about program correctness.

We'll cover the practical and bureaucratic side, the career side, and we'll reserve time for your questions.

Tuesday Boardgames in the Mitte (Formely in the Castle)
Hello peeps, welcome to the private meetup for board games in Berlin.
Look forward to a relaxed boardgames event in a community centre. We will be playing inside the community centre. If you are looking for a group or games, just join us in the front. The entrance fee is 3 euros for the rent of the community centre rooms and cleanup of the rooms.
We look to play in the Nachbarschaftszentrum „Bürger für Bürger“ near Bernauer Strasse U-Bahnhof. We usually play all types of games for example social deduction, casual, euro games, and strategy games. If you are new, is no worries, I will help you connect to a group. We start games every 15 mins so do not worry if you are late. We mostly play in the English language as it is the language most people are comfortable with.
We usually bring games with us but you are welcome to bring your own.
Due to corona rules in Berlin (for more info: https://www.berlin.de/corona/en/measures/), please make sure to follow the rules on the page.
The meetup is strictly for a maximum of persons as stated in the meetup so please register on the meetup event before.

Please smoke or gather in the night not outside the community centre as we look to be accomodating to the neighbours.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
The Screenwriting's on the Wall
For those about to write -- let them come to Berlin! Think of us as a writers' room on the Iron Curtain. We help you turn ideas into Beat Sheets, and Beat Sheets into Scripts. Whatever your level -- we help you to raise your game. We also do a lot of table reads. And provide constructive feedback. And talk about books and films and shows we love -- and draw inspiration for our own projects from them. We workshop works-in-progress. We give you the tools -- you find your flow. Broadly speaking, we have ways to make you write!

WTM Berlin x SPICED Academy: AI and Building a Tech career in Berlin
Women Techmakers Berlin and SPICED Academy are joining forces to host an evening focused on both building *efficient AI systems* and navigating the real challenges of building a *career in tech*—beyond just learning technical skills.
## Talks
Talk 1: Confidence Beyond Skills - What Really Holds Women Back in Tech Careers - by Marina Matveevskaia
Many women in tech keep investing in new courses, skills, and certifications, yet still feel stuck or “not ready enough” to take the next career step.
In this talk, we will look beyond technical competence and explore the less visible factors that often shape career growth much more strongly — such as self-trust, fear of visibility, internalized expectations, and the emotional impact of burnout or layoffs.
I will share common patterns I see in highly capable women and why “just improving skills” is often not the real barrier.
Participants will leave with new perspectives and simple reflection tools to better understand what is holding them back and how to move forward in a more sustainable and aligned way.
Talk 2: Efficient Agentic Systems - by Jane Waithira
Let Classical ML Do the Heavy Lifting, Let Agents Do the Thinking
There’s a temptation to throw an LLM at every problem—but the most effective systems take a different approach.
This talk explores how to combine deterministic, classical machine learning for predictable tasks with LLM-powered agents for reasoning and decision-making—so you can build systems that are fast, cost-effective, and reliable.
## Speakers
**Jane Waithira:**
Jane Waithira is an innovative, solution-oriented developer working in AI/ML, currently at SAP in Germany, where she integrates applied AI and GenAI for SAP's own cloud infrastructure. With over five years of experience building production AI systems, Jane has established her skillset in practical applications of ML and GenAI.
Her talk will provide attendees with a practical framework for building efficient agentic systems that combine deterministic classical ML with the flexibility of LLM-powered agents.

With over 14 years of experience in the IT industry, including leadership roles, she understands the unique pressures and challenges women face in fast-paced, male-dominated environments.
In her coaching practice, Marina focuses on burnout prevention, impostor syndrome, and career transitions, helping highly capable women build sustainable and fulfilling career paths. She also collaborates with the German Employment Agency (Arbeitsagentur) as an AVGS coach, supporting women in their return to the labour market.

**Abstract**
Like it or not, AI agents are now capable of turning a quickly written paragraph of requirements into a pull request that is ready to be integrated into real-world production applications and it's now our responsibility to make sure AI doesn't go rogue and take down prod - or corrupt our data by misunderstanding the requirements or our existing schemas. In this session we'll explore strategies to protect our codebases through unit and integration testing, documentation, and code review along with additional ways of providing context and guard rails to our AI agents as they carry out the work we've assigned them to do. By the time we're done, you'll have a firm grasp of the problem and understand some helpful options for protecting your codebase from vibe coding mishaps getting YOLOed into prod.
