Description of Walk
A great walk taking in the Cape Deslacs Nature Reserve with some spectacular views of the sea and surrounding landscapes.
We will start walking from the Surf Club, walking up suburban streets to Bicheno Street which skirts the foreshore of Pipeclay Lagoon. We then access the Cape Deslacs Nature Reserve.
The cape serves as a large rookery for shearwaters (mutton birds).
Picking up a bush track we will reach a junction and climb over a fence via a stile. It is worth going over this and the views of a square hole in the cliff can be seen (5 minutes along and 200 metres). A further 500 metres along (10 minutes) gives good views back along the cliffs of Cape Deslacs - we are always on Tas Parks and Wildlife reserves.
We then retrace our steps back take the Cape Deslacs track around the cliff line, stopping to view the blowhole and then the platform that looks over Clifton Beach. Option to walk back via the beach or road.
