👫 WHAT WILL WE DO?
For December, we will be doing a Christmas / Holiday themed potluck, so bring your favorite holiday dish to share.

This will be a relaxed, casual gathering focused around sharing a delicious meal together. We usually dig in after about 30-60 minutes, or sooner if there are appetizers! In the meantime everyone can settle in to enjoy some good conversation and leisurely visit.

What was traditional for you growing up? What favorite family recipes can you make vegan?

We (your hosts) typically provide the vegan roast, and either dressing or a green bean casserole. Jami also usually bakes pumpkin pie...hopefully with pumpkin from our garden this year.

🎁 We will have a "white elephant" gift exchange. Please bring 1x gift worth between about $15 to $25 for each person who would like to participate. We might suggest gifting something nice that you already have and no longer need, in order to make it more sustainable; but picking up something you think others would enjoy is an option, too.

We may follow dinner up with board games, a jigsaw puzzle, a movie, or something like Mario Kart, depending on the crowd...

🍲 WHAT DO I BRING?

  1. Yourself! Friends and family are welcome. This is a kid-friendly, alcohol-free event (as are most VegKC gatherings).
  2. A vegan dish (appetizer, main, side, or dessert) that serves about 8 people. One dish per 1–2 guests, including yourself.
-- Comment here with what dish you intend to bring.
-- Everything must be strictly vegan (no dairy, no cheese, no eggs, no honey, no animal products of any kind).
-- If you need ideas, there are a number of vegan recipe sites online - such as Gaz Oakley, The Minimalist Baker, or Nora Cooks.
  3. Serving utensils for your dish, if needed.
  4. Optional but helpful or fun:
-- List of ingredients or a recipe link (great for allergies and curious cooks)
-- Beverage for yourself or to share.
-- Reusable tableware (plate, bowl, utensils, favorite mug) if you have it —especially helpful if we have a large turnout.
-- A favorite boardgame we also have a fair collection of very good ones.
    -- A White Elephant Gift!

✓ We have an electric hot water kettle with teas available.
✓ We have enough dishes and utensils for about 25.

🏠 VENUE
The potluck is at Dragon’s Cozy Cave, a private residence with plenty of space to sprawl about and relax. Seating includes tables, couches, benches, cushions, and cozy corners.

Please be respectful of the space so we can continue hosting future events here.

📝 🐱 Note: This home includes a clowder of kitties. Please be mindful when entering and closing the door. Hard floors help with allergies, but take note if you're sensitive.

🚗 DIRECTIONS AND PARKING
The house is near I-29 and Barry Road, close to Zona Rosa, and about 20 minutes north of downtown KC and the River Market.

  • Private Message a host via Meetup a few days before the event for directions, click on a hosts name, then "Chat with [name]"
  • Street parking is available in the neighborhood. Please keep driveways and fire hydrants clear and accessible.

🔑 ACCESSIBILITY
The home is a split-level with stairs and no front railing, so it’s not wheelchair accessible. The space is in decent shape and undergoing gradual renovations.
