What we're about

Although our meetings are held fortnightly in Victoria Park, we welcome members from all suburbs across the Perth metropolitan area. Some travel many kilometers, from both North and South of the river, just to take part in the fun and adventure of writing. Our members are interested in a wide variety of writing styles - we have poets, novelists, satirists, travel writers and bloggers; amateurs as well as published writers. The group meets in a friendly and sociable situation for mutual support and motivation as well as for informal learning and occasional special events. If you want some genuine feedback, inspiration or to be involved in interesting discussion about writing and literature, come along and join us.

The theme of our next meeting is 'Shakespearean'

The Victoria Park Centre for the Arts

We meet at 6.30 pm for a 6.45 pm start. We will, as usual, read our stories or poems on the theme of the meeting and follow each reading with constructive and friendly criticism. Those who do not have a story are still welcome to the meeting, and those who have a story, but not on the theme of the week, can read theirs after the themed works. The last person to have read his or her work at the previous meeting will be the first to read it at the next meeting! We will also try to accommodate those who have to leave early.
At the meeting of 29 March 2018, we decided to increase the contributions by attendees of each meeting from $3.00 to $5.00. This is necessary because of the cost of renting the Centre for the Arts. Those for whom the increase is a hardship can continue to pay $3.00 provided they let JJ (El Presidente) know. First timers do not have to pay! At the meeting of 5 July 2018 we decided that the age of participants in our meetings be restricted to 18 and above. At the meeting of 25 October 2018, we decided that owing to the increased size of the group, and the growing number of stories presented at each meeting, it was necessary to restrict the time available to discuss each story.
