Details

About the event:

Kaidan: An Evening of 100 Spirits is an immersive stage experience that blends magic, mentalism, illusions, and traditional Japanese performance arts — including bunraku, kabuki, and noh — to bring ancient ghost stories vividly to life.
Inspired by the centuries-old Japanese pastime Hyaku-Monogatari Kaidankai (a ritual of sharing 100 ghost tales by candlelight), this beautifully macabre show draws from 🏯 Japanese folklore, yūrei (ghosts), and yōkai (spirits), layered with touches of Victorian spiritualism 👹.
Guided by the enigmatic Schreiben the Conjurer, the evening unfolds as a mix of theater and variety show, where each eerie tale is paired with a live illusion or artistic performance. Expect a journey that is visually stunning, culturally rich, educational, and unforgettable, transporting you to the shadowy world of onmyōji and ancient court rituals.
