A Walk Through Historic Conshohocken Adventure Lab and Lunch at Jasper’s Backyard

Join me for a fun and fascinating Adventure Lab that takes us through the heart of Conshohocken, exploring some of the town’s most historic turn of the twentieth century buildings along Fayette Street. This is a relaxed walking tour, perfect for anyone who loves local history, fresh air, and a delicious lunch with great company.

For those who do not know the story behind this Adventure Lab, it is based on someone who had lived in Conshohocken for decades. One of the first people he met was old Mr. McFarley, a kind neighbor who once needed help carrying groceries up what locals call Conshohocken Hill. As a thank you, Mr. McFarley shared stories and pointed out important landmarks throughout town. The Adventure Lab follows that same path and brings those stories to life.

Along the way, you will learn how Conshohocken’s geography made it an ideal spot for industry. The town had abundant iron ore, limestone, and marble, along with excellent transportation thanks to the canal and railroad system. Conshohocken was incorporated in 1850, keeping its original Unami Indian name that means Large Bowl Ground Place. Once a booming industrial town, it has since transformed into a thriving commercial and residential community.

This Adventure Lab highlights several historic buildings along Fayette Street. The route is about one and one quarter miles round trip and is meant to be walked at an easy pace. Our first stop will be the old Conshohocken Train Station and is our meeting spot. Parking should be easy and be $2 for the day - it's the Septa train station lot.

After we finish Stop 4 (out of 5), we will head to Jasper’s Backyard for our lunch reservation. Jasper’s is a cozy neighborhood restaurant with great atmosphere and a warm, welcoming feel This makes a perfect midpoint before we continue to our final stop.

Please bring a cash for lunch. I will use the Plates App to determine what each guest owes for lunch. I also accept Venmo, Zelle, or Apple Pay to help simplify the group check process.

Once we visit our final stop, we will walk back toward the train station.
We will start promptly at 11 AM at the Conshohocken Train Station please plan to arrive a few minutes early. Parking is available in the station lot for a small daily fee ($2). After the walk and lunch, the return to the station is about twelve to fourteen minutes at an easy pace.
