What we’re about
Hi! I'm Mike. I'm facilitating this group as a place for IT professionals to meet, trade ideas, mentor and network. But I need your help! I'm looking for your support and assistance to help with the running of the group, offer to share your knowledge with others, provide venues for us as a way to promote your organisation, and anything and everything else. Or to simply come to our events and show your support that way. Come chat to me at our next event or give me a yell in meetup or LinkedIn chat.
The Wellington Architects Forum is a community for all IT professionals who either have 'architect' in their job title or practise architecture in their day-to-day jobs (which really is nearly all of us). Its goal is to provide a technology- and methodology-agnostic community support network for architecture practitioners of all specialties and skill levels, and networking opportunities for career growth.
As the name suggests we are Wellington based, our members practise all forms of architecture and many of our members are from wider New Zealand (and beyond).
We are active on LinkedIn and Meetup, search for the "Wellington Architects Forum" on either platform or go to

Please Note: We may stream, photograph or record these events and may reproduce the image of any person at events, here and on other sites like LinkedIn for promotional and other purposes. Please come talk to me if you'd prefer not to be in photos and videos like this and be aware that most events are video streamed on Teams for other members of the group.

See all- My journey from Solution Architect to Trusted AdvisorZ Energy Corporate Office, Wellington
What separates a solid Solution Architect from a true Trusted Advisor? It’s not just technical mastery. It’s mindset, communication, and learning from the mistakes that hold many architects back.
Ben Yu (LinkedIn) is an accomplished Enterprise Architect and host of the Solution Architect Show podcast. In this session, Ben will share insights from his career designing enterprise solutions, data strategies, and integration frameworks across government and commercial organisations. Beyond the diagrams and roadmaps, Ben’s focus is on the human side of architecture - building trust, saying "no" with confidence, staying professional under pressure, and finding mentors who accelerate growth.
Drawing on stories, hard-won lessons, and a few common pitfalls, Ben will help you see the path from "solution expert" to "strategic partner". Expect practical advice, honest reflections, and plenty to take back into your own practice.
Everyone is welcome - if you are in an IT/Digital role or considering one, you do architecture and you should come along and meet us. This talk will be particularly useful for folks considering an Architect role or wanting to know what Architects do.
This talk will be both in person and remote via Teams. I'll post links to the Teams session closer to the time.
- EA methodologies, the Google Maps of Enterprise ArchitectureDeloitte Wellington, Wellington

Join us to:
- Learn how leading organisations are approaching enterprise architecture in the context of transformation.
- Gain practical perspectives on Enterprise Architecture tools, methodologies, and lessons learned.
- Build relationships with other architects from across New Zealand in a collaborative, technology-agnostic environment.
Whether you’re an enterprise architect, solution architect, or a leader responsible for transformation, this forum is designed to provide practical insights and valuable peer-to-peer networking.
