What we’re about
Whilst nightclubs are lots of fun, if you're 20 years old, this is a group for more 'refined' tastes. We're going to visit some of Brisbane's finest rooftop bars, get to know each other over dinner and perhaps do a few more events.
It would be nice to start off with something in common with the people you're meeting, and we're aiming for young professionals - people who have settled in Brisbane and work in a professional capacity. This way, you know if you make a friend they'll be around in Brisbane for a while at least, and if they move away they must have had poor taste (in cities) :p Your typical young professional will be well dressed, have excellent social skills and be willing to spend a bit extra to go to a nice venue.
Whilst we run paid events in other groups such as https://www.meetup.com/Dates-and-Mates-20s-40s/ (website: www.ignitesocialbrisbane.com.au) here the majority of events are free, but still professionally run. You can see we know what we're doing when it comes to running events!
Brisbane nightlife is quickly increasing in standard and size, as seen by venues such Howard Smith Wharves, Emporium Hotel (Southbank), W Hotel and X-Cargo all opening in the last couple of years. Are you keeping up? What better way to meet some new friends, exploring some of Brisbane's finest venues.
The events in this group are aimed at smaller venues, so we will have to be limiting in who is accepted into the group (being in a meetup group is a privilege, not a right, and privileges can be revoked). It is expected that every member has a photo of themselves, an appropriate name and tells us something about themselves. This is a group for young professionals and will not succeed in being so if members are not young professionals (around the age of 40 or younger).
This meetup group will have high standards for social behaviours and courtesies and won't tolerate harassment, rudeness, treating the group like tinder or RSVP no-shows.

As we have a good arrangement with the venue, they'll let us have the venue without a minimum spend. But if there's a subsequent booking it's possible we have to change which area we're in.
*Update: we'll have a space sectioned off for us at Copacabana Bar, which is out the back of Mr Badger's. There is also entry from Stanley St.
If we do end up with a small minimum spend hopefully all those people RSVPD turn up as you do when you're RSVPD - right! Otherwise it's a tax deduction.Thanks and see you then!
