# CHRONIC PAIN

# Why Anxiety Makes the Body Hurt More

Many people living with chronic pain begin noticing something frustrating:
The more stressed, overwhelmed, hyper vigilant, or anxious they become…
the worse the pain often feels.
This is not “imaginary pain.”
Modern neuroscience now shows that chronic anxiety and prolonged nervous system activation can amplify how the brain and body process pain signals over time.
When the nervous system becomes stuck in survival mode:

  • muscles tighten
  • inflammation increases
  • vigilance rises
  • pain sensitivity can intensify
  • the body struggles to fully relax or recover

In this session we’ll explore:
• the anxiety–pain connection
• how fear and hypervigilance amplify physical discomfort
• why chronic tension exhausts the body
• how the nervous system becomes sensitized
• practical ways to begin calming the amplification cycle

We’ll also experience a short guided nervous system regulation process designed to help reduce internal tension and bring the system out of chronic over activation.
This is a calm, science-informed educational session.
You are never required to speak or participate.
Cameras may remain off.

⚠️ Important:
This session is not medical treatment and does not replace medical care. The focus is understanding how nervous system activation may intensify the experience of chronic pain.
