One Man Back
Details
At the start of the game you have 2 checkers located on your 24-point.
One of your first objectives is to get those checkers to the saftey of the midpoint or your own outer board.
Once one of those checkers has escaped you are in a "one man back" game.
A single checker can't form an anchor.
Your opponent has more of an incentive to attack the lone checker and you have a strong incentive not to put this checker into a vulnerable position until it has a chance to run all the way home.
Head down to The Good Home to learn how to run home.
