Chilled Out Meetups is one of Leeds biggest groups organising social events for 18 to 38 year olds. Thinking about joining or have recently become a member? See essential information for new members by clicking this link.
Our events include an organised walk every other week (over summer), coffee and drinks socials, women-only events and one off visits to destinations in Leeds and sometimes further out. We also run 'one off' events from time to time, and hope to add more types of activities in future.
Are you in charge of a venue or other potential event destination? We'd love to hear from you about working together to put on a Meetup. In return for a space, we can offer a large group of new customers and potentially repeat business in the form of one our regular events. Feel free to send us a message.
ORGANISERS WANTED - Our group is co-owned equally by its organisers. Most decisions are made by organizers giving unanimous approval. If you're interested in running events let us know, no matter what type of event you want to do - remember as an organiser you decide the time, place and activity.
We are fully committed to everyone feeling safe and secure at events so there will be zero tolerance for any harassment, unwanted attention or any other disrespectful behavior. This is a space without any kind of prejudice including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia etc. and this includes 'jokes' and 'memes', please take it elsewhere. We may organise women-only events - if this is a problem then this isn't the right group for you.
You can make a donation to the group here.
If you treat others with kindness and use some common sense you should get along fine here, but if you'd like to check our rules and policies you can see them here.
Have questions about something not detailed in the new member guide or rules? You will probably find answers in our FAQ here.
Our financials are kept open for public viewing. You can see the ledger here.

🦇 Halloween II - FREE ENTRY
The Northern Market, 12 Great George St, Leeds LS1 3ED,, Leeds, GBWe're going all out for Halloween this year with a new venue and plenty of surprises in store. Enjoy drinks, street food and more with us this Halloween - and as always, entry is FREE! ⚰️🧟
Join us for a 'chilling' Halloween party in our private space away from the Saturday night crowds. Grab a drink, enjoy special spooky food for sale (pending confirmation from the food vendors) and meet cryptids who want to commune with people like you.
Fancy dress is optional, however last year we loved seeing all the costumes and I'm sure this year will be the same! The main thing is you're comfortable, but if you would like to dress up others will be doing the same.
You can bring up to five +1s however you MUST add these to your RSVP. Anyone without an RSVP or +1 will be sent to the dungeon. ⛓️
Get to know our THREE private rooms:
👻 🎹 The Spookeasy - Our main private space themed around an early 20th century underground bar. There's a piano, possibly played by a ghost, but failing that feel free to perform some tunes.
📽️💺 The Horror Cinema - Take a breather and watch spooky movies on the big screen. Yes, its an actual cinema screen - with the traditional seats!
🛋️💀 The Lich Lounge - At the end of the public area is fenced off section reserved for us, raised up on a platform to keep members away from the shuffling zombie hordes.
How to find us
If using your phone, I recommend looking up the venue in the Google Maps app since the map on the Meetup app can be misleading.
The venue is on Great George St opposite Nelson Mandela Gardens. The venue is on the basement level from this side, so you will need to go down the set of exterior stairs to enter.
Once inside, our space is all the way at the end, behind the main bar. You can ask the staff if you're not sure where to go.
The venue is a 5-10 minute walks from the Leeds rail station and all bus connections.
About the venue
We have booked three private rooms at The Northern Market - a food and specialty beer venue by Northern Monk. This venue has the best of all worlds, a great selection of food and drinks with our own space so we don't have to fight the public for tables.
This is casual dining so just head up to your chosen food stall or bar when you're ready to order. There's no assigned seats and you aren't stuck in the same place the whole event. If you're not hungry, you're still very much welcome to join us for a drink.
