DETERMINISM, an eternal debate on our grass and on the philosophical tradition, where heated (dis) agreements flower on this definitive theme that touches every moment of our lives so deeply. Could things have gone differently? Could I have stayed living in Africa instead of coming back? Could I have married Manel instead of this stup...? Could I have...?

If I could... what does it mean? Should I think more thoroughly my decisions, anticipate every possible outcome, study physics, biology, psichology, account for all possible data and master Chat GPT... so I can be free of regrets...?

Should I, therefore, be the sculptor of my destiny...?

And if I couldn´t... because god decides, or the atoms decide... if I believe that is so.. What should I do? Give myself to my most unconfessed temptations? Scale the Everest ? Never go to work again ? Whatever will happen does not REALLY depend on me.

As a philosophical and scientific position, Determinism defends the thesis that all events in the universe, including human decisions and actions, are causally inevitable. In a situation in which a person makes a certain decision or performs a certain action, it is impossible that he or she could have made any other decision or performed any other action.

Ultimately, therefore, if we had all necessary data, we could anticipate every phenomena, as well known french mathematician Pierre-Simon Laplace defended.

Therefore Determinism rejects Randomness... and its more beautiful and human expression... Free Will.
FREEDOM.
CHOICE.

Probably no other metaphysical question touches so deeply and directly our social and political organization as this one.

The whole possibility of ethics and a legal system is based on the possibility of choosing, of a certain admitted freedom of choice... otherwise how can the murderer have chosen not to murder... How can he be held accountable if he could not/did not have any other choice? How is it possible to conceive accountability AT ALL without freedom ?

Determinism confronts us with the question of choosing who we want to be (Sartre), of anticipation of the future and interpretation of the past... in other words... it questions directly every important aspect of our lives as Human beings...

So...

Lets think about Determinism... one more time !
