Enjoy a casual and relaxed setting where we get together virtually and enjoy a time of casual and relaxed open conversation and community! At the same time, we will all bring something enjoyable and therapeutic (or perhaps more serious) to work on or have fun during this time (a parallel activity). This is a time for parallel play and conversation or body doubling! Examples of parallel activities may include but are not limited to: special interests and hobbies, journaling, gardening, video games, homework, work for a job, household chores, making dinner, arts, and crafts, etc.

This will be a relaxed group setting and you are welcome to join and leave at anytime throughout the meeting. If you enjoy crafts, hobbies, art, or parallel activities/play this is the group for you! 😊 Think of this group as sort of like our old virtual hangout events (for members who have been around for a while) but with a twist - the addition of many of us working on or enjoying an activity along with a discussion! If you just want to talk, that is fine as well! There will be no set topic of conversation and everyone is welcome to share what projects they are working on. There may be periods of silence, while everyone is busy doing their project/activity. I just ask everyone to be kind and respectful. Let's try to keep it a light and fun atmosphere.
Please don't monopolize the conversation so we make sure everyone has a chance to share!

Hey there! We love to play board games and try something new. We find it easier to socialize within the framework of a game. Anyone can join! We often team up when we aren’t familiar with the rules. We play many different kinds of games.

There is always an option to watch how it works from the side-lines or play something else at a different table. You can bring your own game or play one of the many borrowed at this retail and miniatures store.

This awesome laid-back establishment offers cocktails and beer. There’s even a couch, DVD, and tv set-up. Outside food and drink are welcome. No purchase necessary to hang out. Friends and supports welcome in an autism-first, autism-safe meeting.

Many of us struggle with task initiation, prioritization, focus, or time management. Companion Care Group helps us to get work done that we are struggling to do without support. Each member of the group can be there to support all the other members while also being supported by their peers.

Please come to group with a project or task you plan to work on. It can be a household chore/project, homework, work for your job, a personal project that you want to focus time on but maybe have struggled to prioritize, etc. Ideally, it should be something you can either complete or make measurable progress on in about one hour.

Please also come with the intent of being helpful for others by being present for them and listening to their goals and concerns.

We will use the Pomodoro Technique - 25 minutes of focused work and a 5 minute break. We will do three cycles, with flexibility built in for those who want to work through the break or get done early.

The two hour timeframe will go approximately like this...

2:00 - check-in with each other and tell the group what you will be working on, either verbally or in chat.

2:15 - Get started on your task or project. If you need silence to focus, you can turn off your computer speakers. I will put a 25 minute timer on the screen.

2:40 - Group check-in. If you want to check in and report your progress or ask the group for advice, we will have a five minute check-in. If you are "in the zone" and want to just keep working, you can skip this.

2:45 - Another 25 minutes of work on our tasks or projects.

3:10 - Group check-in. If you are done with your work, you can offer someone else help. If no one needs help, you can socialize with others. I will set up breakout rooms as needed for group work and socializing.

3:15 - Last 25 minutes of work.

3:40 - Group debrief. Did you complete what you set out to accomplish? Did you make progress? Did you have fun? Etc.
