Day trip to Tar Hollow State Park

Twisting park and forest roads pass through deep ravines and dense woodlands. Scattered shortleaf and pitch pines growing on the ridges were once a source of pine tar for early settlers, hence the name Tar Hollow. Dogwoods, redbuds and a variety of wildflowers color the hillsides in the springtime. Fall's pageant of color is spectacular.

Exploring another Ohio State park this weekend. The trail is listed as Logan Trail (North Loop) on all trails. But that's not all, we hope to add part of the south loop to make for a little over 15 mile hike, with 2400 ft of elevation gain. I would give it a good 8 hours for this hike.

The Start point is on the dam of Pine Lake and google maps has it listed as "Forest Logan Backpack Trail North and South Loop Trailhead Parking Area" and there is a parking lot right there.
