We organize different types of events, trips and outings so everyone will find what they are looking for and meet great people in the process.

Mohican Winter Hikes, Food and Appalachian Music

Anyone wishing to overnight at the Mohican State Park Lodge, I've arranged to have the 25% off pre-Black Friday discount they are currently offering in addition to being able to book a single night (vs standard 2 night minimum) for Saturday, January 16. In order to partake, you will need to call in your reservation... it won't work booking online. Call 800-282-7275. Provide Block ID #: NOHCC273 or block name: Northeast Ohio Hiking Club. Rooms with two queen beds are $179.25 before taxes and fees (other options for queen view and king). A maximum of 15 rooms for our group will be available with this arrangement. Deposit due at booking, refundable up to three days before arrival. Deadline for booking is November 26. I was told rate would be honored for stragglers, but if you're interested in overnighting January 16, please prioritize placing your reservation by November 26.
Staying at the lodge that Saturday night is a fun experience, with the Appalachian music festivities. Makes for a well rounded weekend getaway!

Join us for a day of winter hiking, food and Appalachian music!
Plan to arrive and be ready to hike by 10am. Parking is available in the lot on west side of the Pleasant Hill Dam. Meet at the pavilion by the restrooms.
We will be offering two concurrent hikes with varying distances and paces. Your choice!
Group 1: 10 ish miles - pace average 2.5mph (Tony)
Group 2: 16-17 ish miles - pace average 3.5mph (Aaron)We'll aim to start both hikes at 10am, with each ending by around 3pm.
Please be prepared and equipped for the hikes including possible winter conditions (ie footwear traction devices). Mileage as well as pace are estimates, however you should feel personally capable of both. There will be some elevation!
Following the hikes, those who want can stick around for a fun filled evening at the Mohican State Park Lodge (1098 Ashland, Co Rd 3006, Perrysville, OH 44864), a short drive from the trailhead.
Sounds of Appalachian music will fill the lodge all weekend with jam sessions throughout the day Saturday. Take in the tunes, relax and visit during this informal post hike time. The Mohican Appalachian Acoustic Music Weekend is free and open to the public.
Dinner is served in the dinning room starting at 430pm, Saturday. We'll plan to be there and ready to be seated as a group then. At 8pm, an evening concert featuring traditional dance band, The Hollertones, takes place in the ballroom. Come for as much of the day as you want!

Additionally, for those interested, we have Malabar Farm Winter Hike (8-9 ish miles, moderate pace) scheduled Sunday, January 17. Some attending Saturday's event will be staying over for Sunday's Malabar hike. We welcome you to attend either or both events!

Malabar Farm Winter Hike (8-9 ish miles, moderate pace)

Plan to arrive and be ready to hike by 10am. Meeting location will be the Malabar Farm Visitors Center.
8-9 ish miles - pace average 2.5-3mph
We'll aim to start the hike at 10am, ending back at the visitors center by around 130pm.
Please be prepared and equipped for the hike including possible winter conditions (ie footwear traction devices). Mileage as well as pace are estimates, however you should feel personally capable of both. There will be some elevation!
Following the hike, we may grab a late lunch at an area restaurant, depending on what the group is feeling.
Additionally, for those interested, we have Mohican Winter Hikes, Food and Appalachian Music scheduled Saturday, January 16. Some attending Saturday's event will be staying over for Sunday's Malabar hike. We welcome you to attend either or both events!
