HER+Data MCR is a community working to connect, inspire, support and empower the NW UK’s Women in Data. Our goal is to bring together women and non-binary people who work in data or who would like to work in data - to support one another, share experiences and talk data - big or small! Whether you’re a student just embarking on a career or a seasoned data professional, this group is for you. We want to connect and inspire amazing data women with diverse expertise and experience.

This event is very generously hosted by Lloyds in their Manchester office on the 6th floor at Westminster House, 11 Portland St, Manchester, M1 3HU. Please note that Lloyds has two entrances. While Google Maps may direct you to the back entrance, kindly use the front entrance located near Slug & Lettuce on Portland Street. A team member will be waiting to welcome you there.

For our November meetup, our theme is Women in AI! We will hear talks from Jing Li (Freelance AI & Data Consultant), Janhavi Singh (Data Scientist at Co-op), and Sarah Schlobohm (Chief AI Officer) and network with other amazing women in data!

Speakers
1. Jing Li (Freelance AI & Data Consultant)
Bio: Jing is a freelance AI and data consultant who supports UK SMEs with practical AI, automation, and analytics solutions . A career changer and mum who transitioned into tech from a non-technical background, she volunteers with Women in AI UK and advocates for accessible, inclusive AI education. (LinkedIn)
Title: Training Myself Like an AI Model
Abstract: When Jing first stepped onto the Her + Data stage last year, she was still searching for her first role in data after a career change during her maternity break. 18 months later, she returns - not to say she has everything figured out, but to share what she’s learned in the process of becoming. Through her work as a creative AI technologist and AI business analyst, Jing discovered that personal growth works a lot like model training - you learn, you adjust, and you keep improving. Her journey is a reflection on what it means to stay human: to build thoughtfully, ethically, and with purpose.

2. Janhavi Singh (Data Scientist at Co-op)
Bio: I completed my master’s in Data Science at the University of Sheffield, which brought me to the UK from India in 2021. Since 2023, I’ve been working as a Data Scientist at Co-op, contributing to a variety of projects across forecasting, automation, and AI-driven solutions. I’m currently exploring the transformative potential of generative AI in real-world applications, with a focus on using data and technology to improve efficiency and drive innovation across different Co-op businesses. Title: Automating Legal Document Processing with AI
Abstract: In this talk, I’ll share my experience working on an AI project to automate legal document processing within the probate process. This project demonstrates how AI can enhance accuracy, reduce manual effort, and enable legal professionals to focus on more complex and value-driven work. I’ll discuss the tools and techniques we used and reflect on how this experience transformed my understanding of the evolving role of data scientists in real-world applications.

3. Sarah Schlobohm (Chief AI Officer)
