Grange over Sands and Cartmel
Details
Step back in time with this 12 - 13 mile walk starting at the Victorian seaside resort of Grange over Sands.
The original version of the walk I plannned last year but had to alter as it clashed with race day.
The walk starts by climbing to Hampsfell Hospice, built as a shelter and so the Vicar of Cartmel could watch the sunrise over Morecambe Bay and the Lakeland fells. It passes through Cartmel village, (home to Cartmel Priory, race track and sticky toffee pudding) and Wraysholme tower (ice cream stop). Return via Humphrey Head (alledgedly where the last wolf in England was killed) and the coast.
Toilets at Cartmel village. Parking at Grange over Sands station LA11 6EH, £4 for the day. Post walk drink at the Commodore Inn.
