ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
This weekend workshop will serve to outline, clarify, and share training approaches to develop, the fundamental coordinative abilities. That is – the silent but pervasive threads which tie human movement together, ensuring smooth, harmonic, appropriate, adequate, and adaptable motor-control & solutions across all fields and disciplines.

Coordination is not an accessory. It’s the architecture of movement. It’s the alchemical factor that transmutes raw capacity into skill. Coordination is how the whole system responds to the moment.
~ Marcello Palozzo

The event is open and accessible to all, and will share new and innovative frameworks through which to view, inform, and practice effective coordination training for enthusiasts, practitioners, coaches, and teachers alike.

Our research & practice will be informed by the three dimensions of coordinative abilities:

  1. Relative to the Spatial dimension: the ability to position and orient the body and its segments in space. Transformation and orientation determine movement path, trajectory, and alignment relative to the environment and objects, enabling efficient movement, accurate interaction, and stable balance and posture.
  2. Relative to the Temporal dimension: The ability to control movement timing, sequence, and tempo relative to task or environmental demands. Comprising rhythm, anticipation, and reaction, temporal coordination ensures movements occur at the right moment and order, adapting to synchronize with external events like objects, opponents, or rhythmic tasks.
  3. Relative to the Corporeal dimension: The ability to manage multiple body segments, control muscle activation, and maintain balance and posture. Comprising combination, differentiation, and balance, body coordination ensures smooth, efficient, and adaptable movements while preserving structural and functional integrity.

Some of the subjects we will use to frame investigation & development of the coordinative abilities include (but are not guaranteed or limited to):

  • Space: innovative frameworks developing athletic-footwork, throwing and catching development, ground-acrobatic skills, upper & lower-body striking literacy.
  • Time: timing in tactical movement games, rhythm connection with music through groove in standing dance, pure reaction and anticipatory-based partner-drills.
  • Body: equilibrioception (vestibular, visual & somatosensory systems), joints-literacy work, balancing forms, task-specific tension-modulation, contexts training combinatory abilities.

No experience is required. See ‘Practical details’ for further info and sign-up using the web-form. Spaces are limited.
