NSW HUMANISTS MEETUP's last event for the year will be this Sunday 23 November 2025 at 3pm at Humanist House in Chippendale. The speaker will be NSW Humanist Society Vice-President Ian Bryce and his talk is titled 'PHYSICS AND THE BIG QUESTIONS'.

Ian is a retired rocket scientist, lecturer and skeptical investigator. In this talk, Ian has turned his hand to applying 'big science' to the 'big questions' of human existence - How? Why? Who? When? Where?

Our events allow for people interested in learning and discussing humanism to meet in a dedicated space, in an atmosphere that allows time and space for fruitful interaction on interesting topics.

Other topics we discuss from a humanist perspective might include philosophy and ethics, science and scepticism, contemporary social issues, civilisational and cosmic trajectories, and a range of other insights and issues. Participants will get the most out of our events if they share on a regular basis rather than picking by topic.

ABOUT HUMANISM
Humanism is a flexible, open-minded life philosophy where we explore our common humanity in an awesome world without theism (religion) and other supernatural beliefs. There is no dogma but a shared reality and an appreciation of basic human values like compassion, reason, and fairness. Humanism can be seen in the best aspects of the modern Enlightenment - secularism, science, social democracy, human rights, and human flourishing. We have a concern for the biosphere, and a delight in the world as it is - and as it could be. Our discussions respect reason, respect one another, and reject all dogmatic thinking.

NSW Humanist Meetup is sponsored by the Humanist Society of NSW.
The HSNSW encourages honest, open conversations held in a respectful manner.
