I decided to try to get this ride in because the salmon spawning season is coming to an end. Not only is this a circle route, it's also about the circle of life.
From our starting point at the Gillnetter Pub, we follow the PoCo Trail east around Minnekhada and on to LaFarge Lake Park, where we stop for lunch. After lunch, we head west to Port Moody and Rocky Point Park, where we'll take a short break, maybe ice cream, before heading back to the PoCo Trail and the Gillnetter Pub. With luck, we will be able to see lots of spawning salmon in the Coquitlam River, in Hoy and Scott Creeks, and, for sure, in Noons Creek in Port Moody. Let's hope the weather holds.
Difficulty: Moderate if you have been biking regularly.
Distance: 52.8 km.
Estimated Ride Time: 5 Hrs
Bring: snacks/water and PACK A LUNCH. We will stop for lunch at Lafarge Lake Park. There is nowhere to buy anything at Lafarge Park.
