Welcome to Paddling LA and OC!
Love paddleboarding/kayaking and looking for an active, fun community to join? Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or a total beginner, this group is for everyone who wants to enjoy the water, get in a good workout, and connect with great people.
We partner with local rental companies, but bringing your own board is always a plus! Most of our paddles launch from Long Beach, though we’re always excited to explore new spots—feel free to suggest your favorite places!
After each paddle, we love sharing photos from the water, so make sure to snap a few! If you prefer not to be featured, just let us know. You can share your pics with the group on Meetup or in our Facebook group: Paddle LA and OC Facebook Group (JOIN).

🎅🧑🎄 Santa's Christmas Light Paddle through Naples🎄
Leeway Sailing & Aquatics Center, 5437 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA, USCalling all paddleboarding and Christmas Light enthusiasts!
Join us for a magical paddle through Alamitos Bay, Long Beach, as we soak in the holiday cheer! Grab your board, lights, and festive Santa or elf outfit, and get ready for a night of fun and community.
Who can join?
All skill levels are welcome! Just be comfortable paddling after sunset and around slow-moving boats. The Christmas lights will guide our way.
### What to Bring:
- Paddleboard or Kayak
- Paddle
- Battery-operated light to be seen by boats and fellow paddlers
- Life vest/belt and leash for safety

### Contest & Prizes
We’ll have two winners:
- Best Outfit and/or Festive Board Decorations
Voting: Join our Paddle LA and OC Facebook group to cast your votes. Winners will be announced before Christmas and after our final holiday event on December 18th.

### Paddle Route:
We’ll paddle through the Naples Canals to admire the lights from the water, staying together as a group for safety.
### Timeline:
- 5:00 PM: Arrive and prep your gear
- 5:15 PM: Launch onto the water
- 7:00–7:30 PM: Return to shore
After Party:
We'll be going somewhere after if you want to join us. We're open to suggestions, but we were thinking of going to Ballast Point in Long Beach since they have plenty of room for us. Warm food, drinks, and fun with friends!

First Sunset Paddle of 2026 - Join Us!
Leeway Beach, 5437 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA, USCalling all paddle enthusiasts and/or sunset chasers. 🌅
Grab your board or kayak and meet us at Alamitos Bay in Long Beach. All skill levels are welcome, and you must be comfortable paddling when it starts to get dark.
What you’ll need:
- A paddleboard or kayak
- A paddle (don’t forget this)
- A battery-operated light 💡🔦 so you can be seen by boats and others when it starts to get dark.
- Life vest/belt and a leash
Paddle Route:
- We will begin at the bay, paddle straight to Spinnaker Bay and around Naples Island, then return to our starting point.
Timeline:
- On the sand, ready to go at 5:00pm
- Intro/stretch at 5:10pm
- Underway by 5:15pm
- Back by 6:30-6:45pm
- TBD - We may go somewhere for food/drinks after for whoever is interested.
Need to rent a board? Unfortunately, the rental facility is closed at our designated meet time. If you need to rent a board, our Saturday events would be best to join as the rental facility can accommodate at this time.
