Age of Steam Game Night
Details
Come and play the board game Age of Steam every other Monday night at the Boiler Room bar in the McMenamins Kennedy School. With its industrial decor, twisting iron railings, and steampunk vibe originating from the school's actual former boiler room, is there a better place to play a board game about building railroads?
Age of Steam is the classic route-building and pick-up and deliver board game that also involves careful money management and auctioning. The rules are simple and elegant, but the gameplay can be brutal. At each meetup session, we will play on a different map (e.g. Southern US one week, Germany another week). Each map has its own twist on the basic rules.
For the January 5 event, we will play the base game Rust Belt map.
All are welcome. Familiarity with the basic rules is assumed. The rulebook is accessible at this link.
This is envisioned as a small-ish meetup to start, with 3-5 spots available for a game, as I only have a single copy of the game. The game plays up to 6 people. Please RSVP on Meetup if you intend to come. The event will run if at least 3 people have RSVP-ed.
Fellow Age of Steam enthusiasts with their own copy should feel free to RSVP and indicate in the comments that they are bringing a copy, so that we can expand the number of available spots for a game (e.g. from 6 to 12).
Gameplay will take place in the upper level of the bar (by the pool table). Please plan on buying a drink to justify our use of the space. Choo Choo!
