Presentation Abstract & Bio
Join me for a discussion on CSS and how you can express yourself visually through code in 2026, particularly given the current AI boom. My goal is to provide a refreshing coding perspective and hopefully make CSS more accessible. In this talk, we will go through some of the CSS foundations and dive into some of the more advanced CSS features most AI tools won't even reach for. These are things that you can use to boost your expertise as an engineer on the UI.

Bio
Quin Carter is a Lead Software Engineer at Capital One and a leader in the frontend and JS space. Quin has spoken at multiple RVA.js Meetups and he was one of our most highly rated conference speakers at the 2025 RVA JavaScript Conference.

Originally from great state of Texas, Quin moved to RVA in July 2023 and hasn't looked back. Besides his day job, Quin is also a husband, a father, and a doggy dad. And he has an abnormal passion for coffee. As a self professed coffee snob, Quin has been known to scoff at the average Starbucks drinker for lack of taste. He owns just about every coffee contraption known to man, and loves to try different local coffee roasters wherever I go when I travel. If you want to catch up with Quin, I suggest asking him if he is free for a cup of coffee.

As always, the meeting is free.. Looking forward to seeing you!!
