Old Hick'ry Pit
In 1928 an Italian man moved to California, Oakland specifically and opened a bakery, then bought the neighboring business and started selling smoked meats with his baked goods. Almost 100 years ago.
Recently there has been interest in having some events further in the East Bay. I've had an event here with another group, it's BBQ and Breakfast. Smoked meats and pancakes, waffles, eggs, and pie.. don't sleep on their pie. What is it with the East Bay and pie, so many good pie places.
They aren't fancy, they aren't divy, just good home cooking and probably California BBQ, at least that is what I called it, similar other places, St. Louis, Texas, but it's here. One of my favorites, and I think my co-host Cindy has good memories of here.

Minutiae
Ribs, Eggs, Pie it's all good.

History
The story of Hick’ry Pit starts in 1928, when Italian immigrant Emil Villa arrived in Oakland, California. Emil’s first venture wasn’t barbecue at all—it was a bakery. Drawing on his heritage and skills as a baker, he opened a small shop and quickly built a reputation for fresh bread and pastries. But fate had other plans. When the barbecue restaurant next door came up for sale, Emil saw an opportunity he couldn’t resist. He purchased the space, knocked down the wall between the two businesses, and launched what would become one of the Bay Area’s most beloved dining traditions.
