About us
Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

"Stir It Up" Shut Up & Write 8:30-10:20am PT EVERY MONDAY!
·OnlineOnline1. During the initial 20 min.: grab your cup of coffee, and take this opportunity to state your intention for the hour, or practice refining your log line into 1-2 sentences in a mutually supportive space.
2. Writing in silence for a good solid hour in a group is a powerful way to intensify focus and jump-start momentum, so that after the call, you are on a roll.
3. After the hour, we talk process: if you spend a moment clarifying what works and hearing how other writers organize, think about and implement, it's validating. You could learn something. You might even learn what improves learning for you personally as we are all different. They say the best students know their own best learning practices.
>>>As a group of peers, we can provide educated feedback - without the hefty price tag of an MFA Program. It's also a great way to find writing community, once the degree has been completed! As human beings, writing is a lifelong process of learning, becoming more confident, skillful and articulate. If you just keep writing, it happens organically. We help each other keep the momentum going.
Think You "Can't Write?" - Stop Unconsciously Making Rules for Yourself >>>That Limit What's Possible. Speaking to normies about writing is never satisfying. Why? Because they don't understand what you're trying to do. Talking to writers about writing, on the other hand, is immensely helpful, because you get informed feedback about what works for other writers. No agenda, just consensus.
Write from anywhere. Join a little late. Leave a little early. Just make sure not to disturb during writing time.
- This is a safe, welcoming, and respectful space with a focus on peer support. Any Genre, or Morning Pages!
