What we’re about
The Southwest Photo Club was founded in 2006 to promote photography education in a fun and amiable atmosphere. The Club is centered in Littleton, Colorado, although anyone can join. We have monthly meetings and events featuring highly-regarded photographers who present to our club members on specific topics of interest.
We encourage members to share their photos, not for competition but to help each other learn and grow as photographers. Each month, a photo assignment challenges our members to take images of a specific subject, topic, or something to stretch their photographic talents. The images are displayed and shared at our monthly meetings.
You can join for individual meetings via Meetup, but we’d really like to have you as a full member. Learn more about the Club at our website.
Additional member benefits include:

Fairmount Cemetary
Mausoleum Chapel: Fairmount , 430 South Quebec Street Denver, CO 80247, Denver, CO, USI have been to this cemetery for photography one time. I suggest you read a bit of their website to get a better understanding of what we will see. This timing will allow for some stark wintery shots, but I do have other plans for this location in 2026.

•OnlineDifferent Approaches to Photo Editing
OnlinePROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
As you’re editing a photo, have you ever wondered, “How would someone else edit this photo?” This is the concept we’ll explore during our November SW Photo Club meeting. Photo editing after all is a very personal and subjective process.Club Members Michelle Bennewitz and Joan Baker will each edit one of their RAW images and then the other person’s image. This way we can see and learn how two photographers approach the same two images. They may have completely different visions for the images and use very different photo editing tools to achieve their visions. A lot can be learned by watching someone else’s editing workflow and hearing from them as to why they are doing what they are doing. We’re lucky to have two volunteers willing to share their photo editing knowledge with the rest of us. Thanks Michelle and Jerry! (Unprocessed RAW image shown courtesy of Michelle Bennewitz.)
SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Michelle Bennewitz
Michelle D. Bennewitz is the owner of m. leigh photography and design studio and is a lifelong resident of Colorado.
After graduating from the University of Denver with a BA in Business, earning an MBA in Market Strategy, and an MNM (Masters in Nonprofit Management) from Regis University, and then enjoying a successful career in marketing and event management, Michelle followed her lifelong passion of capturing the beauty of our world through a camera lens and graphic arts. While her specialties include black and white landscapes and vibrant macro florals - imagine Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keefe - her primary photographic focus is landscapes, nature and everyday candid life, following the inspirations of Ansel Adams, Georgia O'Keefe, Helen Levitt and Dorthea Lange.
Michelle has followed her passion throughout the United States, as well as in Mexico, the Caribbean and in Europe. Quite often, though, she finds her most vivid inspirations while hiking the majestic Colorado mountains or horseback riding in her hometown of Lone Tree, CO.
You can check out Michelle’s work on her website (https://mleighphotocolorado.com), on Facebook (within Facebook search m. leigh photography Colorado and m. leigh photography and design), and on Instagram (mleighphoto_and_design).Joan Baker
