### A Seeker Circle about comparison, identity, self-worth and the lives we think we should be living

We compare almost without noticing.
Our careers.
Our income.
Our homes.
Our relationships.
Our appearance.
Our children.
Our achievements.
Our lifestyles.
Even our happiness.
Sometimes comparison motivates us.
Sometimes it quietly makes us feel inadequate.
And in a world where we are constantly exposed to the successes, opinions and carefully presented lives of others, comparison can become almost impossible to escape.

So this evening, we ask:
Why do we compare ourselves with others?

Is comparison simply part of human nature?
Can it ever be healthy?
When does inspiration become envy?
And how much of our sense of self is shaped by how we believe we measure up against other people?

Before the gathering, you might like to reflect on:
What is one area of life where I find myself comparing most strongly — and what am I really measuring?

During the evening, we will hear different perspectives and experiences, and explore how comparison affects ambition, confidence, identity and contentment.

We may also consider how ancient philosophical traditions understand the relationship between judgement, distinction and our sense of enoughness.

No prior knowledge of Taoism, philosophy or spirituality is needed.

Come as you are.
One Question. One Evening. Many Perspectives.

Please arrive from 6:20 pm • Conversation begins at 6:30 pm sharp.

There are no limits to the number of people able to join.
