About us
# Tao Seekers Melbourne
Ancient Wisdom. Modern Life. Open Conversation.
Tao Seekers Melbourne is a welcoming community for people who enjoy exploring life’s deeper questions.
Why are we here?
What makes a meaningful life?
Why do we struggle, compare, desire and suffer?
How much of life is within our control?
What does it mean to let go?
And what can ancient wisdom still teach us about living well today?
Our gatherings bring together open conversation, personal reflection and ideas from Taoism, Eastern philosophy, spirituality and other wisdom traditions.
You do not need to be Taoist, religious, spiritual or knowledgeable about philosophy to join us.
There is nothing you need to believe before coming.
Simply bring your curiosity.
## Our Seeker Circle
Tao Seekers Melbourne currently gathers through our fortnightly Seeker Circle on Sunday evenings.
Each gathering centres around one thought-provoking question.
Members are invited to reflect on the question beforehand, then come together for approximately 90 minutes to listen, share and explore different perspectives.
The questions may relate to happiness, identity, relationships, suffering, purpose, choice, destiny, spirituality, personal growth or the challenges of everyday life.
Some examples might be:
- What are we really searching for?
- Why do we compare ourselves with others?
- What does it really mean to let go?
- Can we be happy without getting what we want?
- How much of our life is really within our control?
- What makes a life meaningful?
There is no expectation that we reach one conclusion.
The purpose is not to debate whose belief is correct, but to hear how different people see the same question and perhaps discover perspectives we may not have considered before.
Our guiding idea is simple:
## One Question. One Evening. Many Perspectives.
## What Happens During a Seeker Circle?
Each session is relaxed, reflective and conversational.
We usually begin with a short introduction to the evening’s question, followed by time for members to share their thoughts, experiences and different ways of seeing the issue.
As the discussion develops, we may also introduce relevant ideas from Taoism, Lao Tzu, Confucian thought, Buddhism, the I-Ching, psychology, philosophy or other wisdom traditions as another lens through which to explore the question.
You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable.
You do not need to prepare an answer or speak perfectly.
Curiosity, sincerity and respectful listening matter much more than prior knowledge.
## Our Community
Tao Seekers is a space for sincere exploration and respectful conversation.
We welcome different spiritual, philosophical, religious and non-religious perspectives.
We ask members to:
- listen with curiosity
- speak from their own experience
- disagree respectfully
- avoid dominating conversations
- make space for quieter voices
- respect personal boundaries
- avoid unsolicited promotion, selling or recruitment
We are not here to prove that one person has the truth.
We are here to seek understanding together.
## Who Is This For?
You may enjoy Tao Seekers if you:
- like thoughtful conversations
- are curious about Taoism or Eastern philosophy
- enjoy discussing spirituality without rigid doctrine
- are interested in self-reflection and personal growth
- want to meet people who enjoy deeper conversations
- are searching for meaning, perspective or simply a different way of looking at life
You do not need any prior knowledge.
You do not need to identify as spiritual.
You simply need an open mind and a willingness to listen.
Come with questions. Leave with perspectives.
## A Note from the Founder
Hi, I'm Jun. I created Tao Seekers Melbourne because I've always been drawn to life's deeper questions and to the wisdom found in Taoism and other Eastern philosophical traditions.
Over the years, I've realised that some of the most meaningful insights don't necessarily come from being given an answer, but from having the space to question, reflect and hear how others see the same thing.
I wanted to create a community where people from different backgrounds can come together to have those conversations — without needing to subscribe to a particular belief system or already know anything about Taoism.
I don't see myself as someone with all the answers. I'm a fellow seeker, and my role is simply to help create the space for us to explore these questions together.
