Allatoona Creek Park
Details
With nine separate trail systems, two of which have views of Allatoona Lake, this is a varied and interesting park. For this hike, we'll do the Driftwood and another trail, both of which travel primarily through nice pine forests and along the lake, to get our miles.
About The Hike:
Distance: ~ eight miles
Time: ~ 3 1/2 hours
Skill Rating: Moderate
Pace = 3 - 3½ miles per hour; intermediate to advanced hikers only please
Special Equipment = None needed, though walking poles might help
Food: As usual, we'll do a five-minute stop to grab something to eat, so please bring water and lunch/snacks
Kids/Pets = No pets please, but children that can keep the posted pace are encouraged to attend
Meeting Times/Directions:
The trailhead is located off of Old Stilesboro Road, which is about ten minutes north of Kennesaw Mountain. There are multiple ways to get there, though I find taking the 75 route the fastest. There is a huge parking lot (parking is free), so no problem parking. Please meet near the picnic benches.
And don't forget: We'll go to a restaurant or brewery after the hike!
See you on the trail!
