We are an international mentorship group with a focus on helping more women become active participants and leaders in the Python open-source community. Our mission is to promote, educate and advance a diverse Python community through outreach, education, conferences, events and social gatherings.
PyLadies also aims to provide a friendly support network for women and a bridge to the larger Python world. Anyone with an interest in Python is encouraged to participate!
And if you'd like to get some more information about our parent organization, check out the web site: http://www.pyladies.com
This month the whole world celebrates the International Women's Day and we didn't want to miss it, so we are organizing a special gathering to get inspired together! Come join us in PyLadies e-rooftop party on Gather, a virtual space where we can run into each other and have a talk and share experiences (almost) as in a real in-person meetup. Check it out: https://gather.town/
** LIGHTNING TALKS ** The idea is to get together and share our thoughts with the community, so each attendee can talk about whatever they like:
- something that you are learning or that you would like to learn - a project in which you are collaborating - some cool tool that you are using at work - sharing an experience - recommending learning resources - maybe you prefer to just introduce yourself - whatever you want!
You don’t have to be an expert about Python! We are sure that you have lots of interesting things to talk about. Are you nervous about public speaking? Don’t worry! Probably Pyladies is the best place to start! (and it is not mandatory to talk, if you don't feel comfortable).
** INTEREST GROUPS ** Afterwards, we'll have the chance to meet in smaller interest groups (web development, data analysis, machine learning...) together with mentors, to share experiences, ask doubts, propose ideas for future meetups, etc.
** MENTORING ** Are you interested on being a mentor in this session? You rock! Please indicate so when answering the question in the RSVP process and we'll get in touch with you :)
** CLOSURE ** Also, feel free to wander around, chat with the rest of the attendees privately or in groups, and just have a good time :)
Help us make this event amazing!
• Access Control (IMPORTANT!)
We will provide a link and a password to access the gather.town space to all attendees. Stay tuned!
In short: - If you are a man with a non-male friend attending the meetup: join the meetup and indicate which PyLady invited you - If you do not have any friend that can invite you, don’t worry! RSVP and send a brief message to the meetup organizer explaining why are you interested in attending this particular meetup.
