MONT SAINT MICHEL, ST MALO, DINAN: BRITTANY TRIP

BRITTANY ADVENTURE HIGHLIGHTS -Visit the world famous Mont Saint-Michel -Stroll around the Medieval town of Dinan -Enjoy a boat cruise to the famous cliffs of Cap Frehel & Castle La Latte -Participate in Dinard's famous "Moonlight walk" -Indulge in a week-end of great French food & wine ITINERARY Thursday, August 22nd: Fly into Dinard Airport and check-into the hotel SAINT MALO Meet at the hotel for a walking tour of St-Malo's granite walls (the famous ramparts) which surround the city, once a stronghold for privateers (pirates approved by the king), with breathtaking views over the bay where you can see Europe’s largest tides Friday, August 23rd: MONT SAINT-MICHEL We visit the world re-known Mont Saint-Michel, one of the most visited landmarks outside of Paris and a UNESCO world heritage site, we then walk around Cancale, famous for its oysters and end the evening with dinner in one of its' delightful coastal restaurants Saturday, August 24th: DINAN & CHATEAU DU ROCHER PORTAIL We take a stroll back into history with a visit to the medieval town of Dinan. Dinan is designated as a Villes et Pays d’Art et d’Histoire, or a Town and Land of Art and History. We then visit the Chateau du Rocher Portail, one of France’s largest private estates and regarded as the most beautiful castles in Brittany. Sunday, August 25th: DINARD & CAP FREHEL Visit the famous seaside resort of Dinard with its Belle-epoque atmosphere & stroll along its famous moonlight walk with great views over the bay to Saint-Malo. In the afternoon we take a boat cruise to the famous cliffs of Cap Frehel & the XIVth century Fort La Latte castle. Monday, August 26th (BANK HOLIDAY IN UK): SAINT MALO Walk around Saint-Malo, go to the beach or just shop before flying back THIS TRIP IS ALREADY CONFIRMED. Lake District Weekend

An amazing weekend of low level walking in the stunningly beautiful and iconic Lake District ! We shall be staying in lovely Ambleside by Windermere a truly great place to stay best placed as a base to enjoy walks the southern lakes as well as the northern lakes also. Please book any b&b in Ambleside for 3 nights and then please put a comment on the event page. Anyone who has not booked their hotel by end of January shall be removed from the trip. Train tickets : Open return from London Euston to Windermere - outward journey from London Euston at 10.12am that arrives at Windermere at 2.03pm after changing at Lancaster. Likely train return on Tuesday : Windermere to London Euston 4.05pm with one change at Preston. Network rail card not available for this journey, nor is group save. Proposed walks meetpoint Ferndale Lodge , Lake Road LA22 0DB : Between Saturday afternoon and Tuesday lunchtime we shall be taking the wonderful Lake District buses and I have hired a private coach WHERE NECESSARY to walk all of or certain sections of : Saturday 4pm for 4.15pm Walk to Rydal Water plus lovely village of Grasmere - 5 miles - set off 4.15pm Bus back 7pm or 8pm Sunday 8.45am for 9am Coach to Ullswater - walk 7.5 miles - undulating and slightly challenging - plus boat ride then bus back at either 2.11pm or 4.11pm with change of bus at Windermere BRING PACKED LUNCH Monday 8.45am for 9am : Coach to Derwent Water - 4.5 miles 1.30pm : Coach to Buttermere - 4.5 miles - then 5pm coach back to Ambleside BRING PACKED LUNCH and Tuesday choice to be decided by Monday 1.30pm : 8.45am for 9am Taxis to Lake Coniston - 7 miles - then bus back to Ambleside BRING PACKED LUNCH Or 8.45am for 9am Lake Windermere - 4 miles - plus boat trip Please only book up if you can walk 2.5 miles per hour for at least 8 miles, are reasonably fit and have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of trip. Chichester to West Wittering Beautiful Canal and Coastal Walk

One of the best and certainly most varied walks that the group does! Meet by BOOTS next to the ticket office. Please arrive by 8.45am so as to facilitate the purchase of group train tickets to Chichester by everyone and we shall take the 9.36am train that arrives at 11.06am. Train ticket around £19. Meetup fee £5. Please bring packed lunch, water, snacks etc waterproof jacket and walking shoes/boots. Sunglasses, hat and suncream too. The walk is around 12 miles in length firstly walking along the disused Chichester Shipping Canal, then alongside Chichester Marina before becoming an amazingly beautiful coastal walk to West Wittering. Please have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity and you should be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour. We shall stop for a drink in The Ship pub several miles before arriving at West Wittering. Let's go with the flow! At West Wittering you may spend some time at the beach if you like and make your own way back and we shall certainly have an ice cream and a tea or coffee before taking the bus back to Chichester. We shall aim to take the 53 bus at 5.26pm and then the 6.09pm train that arrives back at 7.41pm or the 6.39pm train that arrives back at 8.11pm. My no is[masked]

Newhaven to Brighton Stunning Coastal Walk

One of the group's most popular walks is this truly beautiful 10 mile coastal walk partly on clifftops and partly undercliff. Let's go with the flow! Please arrive by 9am so as to facilitate the purchase of group return train tickets by everyone. Return train ticket to Brighton around £19. Meetup fee £5. We shall take the 9.46am train that arrives at Newhaven Town at 11.16am after a change Lewes. Please bring packed lunch if you wish or eat in the pub, water, snacks etc plus waterproof jacket and walking shoes /boots plus sunhat, sunglasses and suncream. Please have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity. There shall be ice-cream! We shall have a drink in Brighton before taking the train back at around 6.30pm. My no is[masked]
