De qué se trata
Come into the ArtHouse ! Meet with local film and arts lovers to watch indie, foreign and classic films! We'll also attend art gallery openings, theater performances, Embassy evenings, museums, author readings and interesting concerts. And more often than not, there will be a reception! The idea will be to keep the price down and participation and conversation up!
We'll go wherever art house films are screened in town--museums, cultural institutions, embassies, local film festivals, as well as arthouse film meccas like the Goethe Institute, AFI Silver Theater and Landmark Theaters. We'll attend galleries you may not know and museums on special days. We're also connected to the theater world so we'll be seeing some of those shows.
Please be sure to read the group's attendance policy on the message board or "About Us" section. Also, note that the Art House meetup is a group for ACTIVE members fully engaged and interested in attending outings. Inactive members who have not logged into the site for 6 months or more are automatically removed to ensure the integrity of the group.
Members are asked to donate $1 per meetup they attend to help cover the Meetup.com fees ($72 per 6 months). You can make this 'suggested donation' online via Paypal or in person to your organizer. Your contribution is much appreciated!

Ver todo- Rehearsal Concert for A Capitol Fourth - Great Lineup of PerformersNational Museum of the American Indian, Washington, D.C., DC
This has been another go-to event over the years for us. The big Fourth of July concert at the Capitol always conducts a Dress Rehearsal Concert the night before at 8pm. It gets crowded, though, of course, nothing like the next night. The weather forecast is perfect.
We'll meet at the American Indian Museum - the entrance is where Maryland Ave hits 3rd St - which is very close to the security entrance for the event. Let's meet at 6 pm to get a good space - I like the back middle of the lawn which is elevated a bit. You can bring food but no alcoholic drinks. We'll post our location for those coming later. But it's nice to have the time before to socialize in that great setting.
You can see that the performers for this year look pretty amazing - definitely something for everyone. See them online here. Hope you can join us!
- Interesting Film - 'Bridgeplayers' - on House of Sweden Roof; Ticket RequiredHouse of Sweden, Washington, DC
The Embassy of Sweden is excited to offer a selection of Swedish rooftop film screenings this summer that celebrate the rich cultural heritage and cinematic excellence of Sweden.
The next screening presents The Bridgeplayers (2025), a film about four women who survived Auschwitz as teenagers.
Purchase a $5 ticket here.
Filmmakers Alberto Herskovits and Bengt Bok document four bridge-playing women and Auschwitz survivors as they witness a dramatically changing world in this unconventional film about the Holocaust. Despite their traumas and haunting memories, the four women have lived to nearly one hundred and are now among the few remaining to bear witness to the Holocaust. They live in Stockholm, have been friends for decades, and share a deep passion for playing bridge. Life proceeds as usual, but suddenly everything changes with the Hamas terror attack and the situation in Gaza. A unique film about the Holocaust and the art of survival.
