Trail Maintenance w/ Pacific Northwest Trail Assoc.
Detalles
Let's do our part to help maintain these wonderful trails we enjoy year round! Join us on April 21 as we volunteer with the Pacific Northwest Trail Association to work on the trail at the Samish Overlook in the Blanchard State Forest.
Give back for trails. Join a trail work day party. Learn about the PNT that stretches from Pacific Coast at Olympic NP to the Continental Divide at Glacier NP, and be proud of the unique parts of PNT in Whatcom and Skagit Counties.
NOTE: This is not a SWAG event - you need to sign up with PNT to volunteer. Click here to open their page.
(You will need to create an account with their volunteer partner and enter personal info.)

Join volunteer coordinator Seher Khan for a day of trail maintenance at Samish Overlook on the Blanchard State Forest! Enjoy beautiful views of the Salish Sea and give back to one of the most beloved segments of the Pacific Northwest Trail. We will be working on the Chuckanut Trail to complete a tread-widening project that has been over a year in the making! No experience required - we will show you what to do!
We will start our day in the parking lot with a safety briefing and get everyone fitted with helmets, safety goggles, gloves and tools. Once we have all of our gear, we will hike down approximately 1.5 miles to our project site. We will be widening the tread (the walking surface of the trail) and making sure it has the proper slope to be comfortable to prevent water from pooling on trail. This is achieved using a variety of tools such as Mattocks, McLeods, and shovels to dig, move, and compact mineral soil. We'll take a break around noon for lunch, and then start hiking back up the trail with a goal to return to the trailhead by 3:00 PM.
Day: Tuesday, April 21st
