Are you motivated to do something that makes the world a better place? Do you want to have the biggest impact you possibly can? We each have limited resources with which to affect the world. Figuring out how to invest these resources to accomplish the most good can be difficult, involving a lot of research and strategy. Fortunately, we don't have to do it alone.
Effective Altruism is a growing movement of people looking to maximize their impact on the world. We take our moral obligations toward others seriously and look for ways to do good for others that wouldn't otherwise be done. Whether you consider yourself a dedicated effective altruist, are curious about the economic and philosophical ideas behind the movement, or just want to do a little more good when you can, we're excited for you to join us!
EA-NYC has been meeting since 2014 to discuss these topics and build and reinforce the local EA community; as of 2018 we've grown to more than 1000 members across Meetup and Facebook and have been featured in the Wall Street Journal.
