Hey everyone! Since we've finally had a couple days of warmer temps (even though it's back to being on the chilly side as I write this lol), I think it's time we finally start heading back to some of our favorite Spring/Summer spots. Let's make our first stop at Captain Seaweeds to bring in the weekend!

TLDR: Nautical themed dive bar featuring plenty of decorations and reasonably priced drinks. Host(s) will post location in the comments on arrival. Bar has tarps in event of rain. Other stops after first bar possible but not guaranteed.

If you've never been, Captain Seaweeds is a bit of a sleeper bar. It looks like your average dive bar from the street. Even the first couple steps through the door you'd never be able to guess what they have in store. However, take one step out the back door and you'll find yourself in one of the best themed spots in the city. Their outdoor patio sports wall to wall nautical decorations, which feels as if a pirate tavern decided to throw a tiki night haha There's of course plenty of outdoor seating considering all the effort to make it a fun experience. If the weather isn't on our side they put out rows of tarps to keep the seating available. Last time we went it was thundering, and it only made the nautical vibes even better. There's also a pool table inside if people want to play a few games.

Luckily, the over the top theming doesn't come with high drink prices. Captain Seaweeds is one of the cheaper spots to drink in the city. They offer a house lager, which isn't the strongest ABV wise, but it's dirt cheap and they even sell it in pitchers. Their beer selection is solid. They also have a full bar if you want a cocktail to kick off the weekend. Sadly, despite the theming, Captain Seaweeds doesn't specialize in any tiki cocktails. Last time they had some tiki adjacent drinks on specialty menu, but I wouldn't have my mind set on a mai tai. When it comes to cocktails, Seaweeds sticks to its dive bar roots, so it's best to stick to the basics. There's of course plenty of beer on tap, canned drinks, and seltzers. There's something for everyone.

Captain Seaweeds doesn't offer much food wise, they may have snacks available. In the past they didn't mind people bringing in outside food, but please check with the staff before just in case. If they are still cool with it, there's a great taqueria down the street called Tallulah's we recommend.

There's plenty of spots a short walk away if the weather is on our side. If the group wants to move on later in the night, we'll have some options. The Point Tavern is solid spot for cocktails and Wickeden Pub is good for beers. We'll wing it at that point.

Please reach out to the host(s) if you have any questions, or feel free to leave a comment. Looking forward to see everyone! :D
