April 21st 2021 our SCFS Adventure Group paddled 5ish miles and camped on AC's 250 acre North Edisto River property. This year after several years and several storms later i am going to paddle that stretch again to prepare for our SCFS groups paddle/camp event a few weeks laterTBA. Those that made that trip will agree that the Edisto River is my favorite river that draws me back each year. We have spent many miles together on the S Edisto and N Edisto slowly drifting on that mystic black wilderness river. The Edisto is the only river in SC that starts and finishes in the Palmetto State. There may not be much debris to clean up but im taking my elect chainsaw, space batteries and a machette if needed. if you choose to come with me remember it may be a slow paddle to the take out. Meetup location will be at the intersection of SCHWY 3 and SCHWY 178 or another location close to there. if you choose not to join me, Hopefully you will join us SCFS on a paddle on this section of the N Edisto a few weeks later.

Hello fellow adventurers, this SCFS Retreat will be our 6th Annual Retreat. This event will happen the North Carolina community of Rosman NC. The French Broad River becons us to enjoy its beauty and tranquility. The French Broad River is said to be in the top 3 Oldest Rivers in the World. Assisting our adventure the year will be HEADWATERS OUTFITTERS who is a well known Outfitter in the area. They are providing SCFS with a private riverside camping area along with shuttles to and from the river. HEADWATERS OUTDOORS info@headwatersoutfitters.com also rents kayaks ar a reasonable rate to those who do not want to travel with your own. The campground is a PRIMITIVE campground. NO POWER AND NO WATER but YES TO A PRIVY. I will see about having limited power on site for changing batteries, cooking lights etc.

The main focus on this adventure will be he paddle on the French Broad River. We will arrive Thursday July 23th set up camp and enjoy the afternoon in camp or hiking the area. FRIDAY 24th HEADWATERS OUTFITTERS will pick us up at camp and take us to the start of our journey at their Outerfitter Headquarters. we will have all day to enjoy our float/paddle. after arriving back to SCFS Basecamp we can relax or swim in the river or head out to explore the town of Rosman NC. Food will be campers responsibility. iwill have a fast stove available along with a campfire to cook on. SATURDAY 25TH we will paddle a short distance 4-5 miles then break camp and heading back home.

I encourage everyone to consider attending this event. spending days together in camp or on the river let's everyone enjoy new friendships. We have a great opportunity to do things together that many will not do alone.

Rosman is approximately 3hr drive from the SC Midlands. I anticipate being their by 1pm myself. RV's are welcome as long as your RV is self contained. The group will camp together in close proximity to each other. This is a safe gated campground and of course you are amongst friends.

The campsite rental is 15 per person per night. i paid 60 for Ann and I for the weekend. To reserve your space call HEADWATERS OUTFITTERS @1828 877 3106, let them know you are with SCFS so they will put you with us. Also if you need a kayak to rent be sure to let them know. the only other out of pocket expense with be contibuting to the $50 group shuttle fee. maybe 5 or 10 dollars each person.
