¡Hola a todos! 😊 Nos reunimos para disfrutar del Sechseläuten y la tradicional quema del Böögg este 20 de abril en Zúrich. 🌸 ¿Qué es el Sechseläuten? Es una fiesta tradicional que marca la llegada de la primavera y tiene sus orígenes en el siglo XVI, cuando en Zúrich se cambiaba el horario de trabajo y las campanas sonaban a las 6 de la tarde para indicar el inicio de la jornada de verano. Con el tiempo, esta tradición se combinó con antiguos rituales populares en los que se quemaban figuras (los “Böögg”) para despedir el invierno. 🔥 Hoy en día, el Böögg —un muñeco en forma de muñeco de nieve lleno de fuegos artificiales— se quema como símbolo del fin del invierno. Según la tradición, cuanto más rápido explota su cabeza, ¡mejor será el verano! 🎭 ¿Qué vamos a ver? Primero veremos el final del desfile de los gremios (Zünfte): cientos de participantes con trajes históricos, caballos, música y carrozas desfilan por la ciudad hasta llegar a la plaza principal (Bellevue). **Thursday Night Football is back!** Our decade-long tradition of playing Thursday night games continues at **Turnhalle Lind Nord** in Winterthur! Open to all skill levels, newcomers, as well as regular players. The cost will be CHF 10 per game or there is the option to pay for the whole year. The attendance is limited to 12 players, if the meetup list is full then please join the waitlist as we regularly have people dropping out the day of the event. **Parking** There is no parking at Lind Nord, however there is paid parking at Museumplatz 3 or Kreuzstrasse 13, both of which are about 2 min walking distance **No-shows** We ask everyone to respect others who wish to play, and that means dropping out if you know that you won't play. You are responsible for keeping your RSVP up-to-date, not the organisers. The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each.
