Film Screening "Gestures of Resistance"
Film Screening "Gestures of Resistance"
Screening of my documentary **[Gestures of Resistance](http://www.thefutureofmemory.ro/gestures-of-resistance)** followed by discussion Hosted by the Sigi Feigel Gastprofessur für Jüdische Studien, Dr. Jill Marxer Tuesday, May 5 6:15–8:15 p.m. Room KIR 200, Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies Kirchgasse 9, 8001 Zurich All are welcome, admission is free *Gestures of Resistance* connects the voices of some of the last Holocaust survivors from Romania, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia with images of contemporary protest and lived solidarity. The film depicts antifascist resistance in all its forms—armed, civilian, artistic—and explores the meaning of these stories today. In light of resurgent right-wing movements gaining power, resistance is not only remembered but understood as an urgent task of the present. Following the screening, there will be a discussion in English with the director, Olga Ştefan, and the historian, Prof. Dr. Botakoz Kassymbekova (Department of History, University of Zurich), moderated by Dr. Adam Knowles (Department of Philosophy, University of Zurich). Living Diversity - Nonviolent Communication weekly course in English in Zürich
Living Diversity - Nonviolent Communication weekly course in English in Zürich
\>\>\> All Info and registration here: https://interbeing\.ch/living\-diversity/ **– *Understand our differences and connect in conflict* –** In this course, we explore together how we can be with each other in our differences. We learn how to communicate more effectively with our loved ones, colleagues and even with people who share opposite opinions. * How can I feel understood, even when you see things differently? * How can I connect with people who think, feel, or live differently from me? * How to navigate conflict without losing myself or the other? * How to meet diversity with curiosity instead of fear? Before connecting with others, we get to know ourselves: Find out what is behind our triggers and judgments, identify our feelings and needs. This inner clarity strengthens our self empowerment and the ability to meet others on eye level instead of betraying ourself, giving up our wishes, or dominating the conversation. We learn to better understand each other in our differences and invite cooperation. We explore movements beyond polarizing debates, while staying true to ourselves, so we can belong a bit more rather than merely fit in. ## We research how to: * Listen more deeply to ourself and gain inner clarity about our needs and what really matters to us * Realise when we need self care before connecting with others * Find inner clarity when we’re triggered * Stand honestly for our needs, express our wishes and invite cooperation * Grow capacity in understanding other viewpoints * See the beautiful messages behind our judgments and the judgments of others * Be in conflict with care and connection **Facilitation Style:** During each session, we offer theoretical input, live demonstrations, group discussions, and two to three guided exercises. We share insights and tips inspired by Nonviolent Communication (NVC) by [Yoram Mosenzon](https://www.connecting2life.net/trainer/yoram-mosenzon/) and Marshall Rosenberg. But foremost we invite you to find your own way. To develop your own communication style with your inner parts and your fellow humans. Part of the sessions will be shaped by the wishes and interests of the group. We might offer themed evenings that dive deeper into specific areas of diversity where staying connected can be difficult (such as race, gender, sexual orientation, neurodivergence, mental health, illness and disability, diet, relationship styles, cultural background, political views, and our ways of relating to money and consumption,…) or explore more depth some conflict situation. You’re warmly invited to bring your personal situations so we can work with concrete, lived experiences. \>\>\>\>\>\>\> All Info and registration here: https://interbeing\.ch/living\-diversity/

Kon-Tiki Comedy Tuesday
Kon-Tiki Comedy Tuesday
**Kon-Tiki Comedy Tuesday!** Zurich's longest standing weekly Comedy Night : English Standup at Kon-Tiki Bar since 2018! **Tickets :** [https://shorturl.at/fgjmM](https://shorturl.at/fgjmM) Kon-Tiki Comedy has long become a staple of Tuesday Nights in Zurich! Veterans, regulars, amateurs & newbies from all around the world show up to make people laugh. This Comedy Open Mic is regularly Hosted by Ahmet Bilge. Kon-Tiki Comedy is the place for English Standup in central Zurich. Come join & laugh with us! **Early Show starts at 19:30 pm // Late Show starts at 21:30 pm** **Frequently Asked Questions:** \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **Q: Is the show in English?** A: YES. Kon-Tiki Comedy is always in English. **Q: What's the difference of a Comedy Open Mic from a regular Comedy Show?** A: Anybody who wants can go on stage at a Comedy Open Mic. A bunch of Comedians will be there, but they will be trying out jokes, because this is how Comedians find out if something is funny or not, so you get to be there at the birthplace of jokes. Often Comedy Open Mics are more casual & but also funny as well! **Q: Can I perform Comedy also?** A: Yes of course! Just contact theamericanstandupshow@gmail.com if you're interested in performing. Or directly go to the event page on facebook & write "SPOT" inside the event discussion. You'll be confirmed later & will get 5minutes to start off with. Anybody can sign up! **Q: What about these seats?** A : We have enough seats for everyone but the first come first served rule applies! Especially since Kon-Tiki Comedy is popular, often it is packed inside, so come early for good seats. What's early? Anything before 19:00 & you will have your seat of choice. **Q : What about the late show?** Depending on the turnout a late show is also available most of the time, please check the ticket page to see if there is a late show option. Basically if you can buy tickets to the late show, it's happening, if it's not an option for a ticket it's not! Both shows might be consolidated into one if there's not enough ticket sold for the late show. In this case you will recieve an e-mail telling you so. **Q : Can I refund my ticket?** There are no refunds allowed because it becomes too much work for a simple Comedy Open Mic, so only buy your ticket if you know you're for sure going to be able to make it. But if for some reason you can't make it, you are welcome to use your ticket for any future Kon-Tiki Comedy Shows. Just write an e-mail to exchange. **Q : Can I buy tickets at the door?** No please don't. Technically we can but it complicates everything, so just buy them online. Just to persuade you NOT to ask to buy at the door: Tickets at the door are 15.-CHF. Please buy online : ) **Q: Will it be funny?** A : You betcha. You can't do a regular show since 2018 & not be funny. **Any other questions:** Email: theamericanstandupshow@gmail.com with the title "Kon-Tiki Comedy" But if it's any of the questions covered by the FAQ above, I will still answer it, *but first I will insult you.* **Legal Disclaimer:** Comedians may film their sets as well as the audience during the comedy show. By buying a ticket you consent to being filmed in this public space. If you ever have a problem with any clip published online you are very welcome to contact us & ask to have it removed, we are happy to accomodate you. Thank you for your understanding.

Jimmy V's Grill & Pub in Grandview Heights. You are responsible for your own meal/drinks. We usually don't have any agenda other than eat, drink and talk. :) If the weather is nice we will be on the back patio, otherwise we are in the cigar room. This group has been meeting every Tuesday evening for over a decade. Many attendees do not RSVP on meetup. Please don't let the small number here discourage you. Anyone/everyone is welcome to come. We'd love to have you join us. COTA bus #5 comes to W. 5th and Wyandotte Rd. And it's a minute walk to the restaurant. *** Did you know that there are atheists everywhere?!?! You may not know it, but we are! We're in your schools, diners, police force, military, government, and some are even still in your churches! So come and join us and meet other local atheists, along with agnostics, heathens, humanists, skeptics, and anyone else who's 'hell bound'! Vision: a Central Ohio that accepts atheism as a viable alternative in all areas of public and private life. Mission: grow, support, and provide community for atheists in Central Ohio. Social meetings held most Tuesdays at a local pub/restaurant at 7:00 PM (and often into the wee hours). Attendees call themselves agnostics, skeptics, humanists, non-theists, deists or even theists. All attendees are welcome but should support our vision. Atheists of Columbus (AoC) is part of Omnipresent Atheists (OA). COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above. There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change. The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/). Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers. For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.
