You are studying German but you don't get a chance to practice speaking? In our conversation class you can practice and fine tune your German in a structured class, guided by an experienced German teacher. Please take time at least 10 minutes before the event to pay and register for an account at http://zoom.us (in case you don't have one already). In each session we have a new topic and will tackle a variety of vocabulary. We will use the breakout feature of Zoom. You will get different discussion points and speak one-on-one with 3-4 other German learners in a separate chat room. After around 5-10 minutes I'll join your room and you'll give me an account of your conversation. I'll then correct your German and give you personalized feedback. After that you'll be assigned to a new group and discuss a new point. Are there requirements? If you are able to have a basic conversation about simple everyday topics - you are ready! If you have no German at all, get started with the mentioned requirements and join us in a few weeks! Why is there a fee? Hosting a meetup is not free. The €5 fee covers the Meetup organizer fee, the zoom membership fee, the preparation and the teaching of the class. Note: This meetup is part of a network with more members on other platforms. The Alliance is part of the Greater Central Ohio Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We are an all-voices chorus dedicated to providing an inclusive environment for all those who love to sing, regardless of their race, gender identity, sexual orientation or musical background. The Alliance is the first and only all-voices barbershop chorus in Central Ohio. **Who:** Anyone with a passion for singing at a high level. Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
