We’ll take a relaxed pace through one of the city’s most beautiful trails. The hike should take about **2 hours**. **ℹ️ Additional info** The purpose of this specific event is to have a recurring way for us to meet relatively easily. I want to make sure that recurring events are a "low effort" commitment, ie you don't have to drive 2 hours to get there. In the future once we have more organizers I plan to have more recurring events scheduled so we can cover a larger area. Also, you may have noticed that **this event has an RSVP limit**. This is done for multiple reasons. Let's hike Wells Branch Trail and walk for 1.5 hours for a total of 4.3 miles. This greenbelt trail is a well-maintained, mostly flat gravel path -- no hiking boots required, but do use your best judgment. Along the way, we’ll pass through several underground tunnels and cross a couple of streets without dedicated pedestrian lights, so we’ll pause to regroup and cross safely together. The trail is mostly shaded and passes through several parks, some with path lighting. Please bring at least 2 liters of water and a flashlight. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the trail! The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens Free Communal Garden Class Series GROWING MUSHROOMS In this class, we will discuss how to raise mushrooms on logs outdoors as a way to raise food in parts of your yard that are usually too shady to grow vegetables or other crops. We will discuss what mushroom species can be cultivated, what tree species they can grow on, and demonstrate how to prepare and inoculate the logs. By following these steps, you can have your own bountiful mushroom harvest! The topic for April is "Water" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience.
