Duet Announces: "Virtual Support Group for Family Caregivers" Free Group!
Duet, Partners in Health & Aging Announces: "NEW Virtual Support Group for Family Caregivers" on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
Your parents took care of you, now you must take care of them. You love them and want to help them, but their needs are so extensive, you're stressed juggling your life and your family, while you manage your parents and all their affairs.
You're not alone! Duet has launched a support group geared towards you. Others who are in your shoes "get it." You can come together to share challenges, as well as discover tips and resources to help you cope. Research indicated that caregivers who participate in support groups benefit from overall improvements in physical and mental health.
You're doing the right thing for you parents. Now do the right thing for yourself. You need to remain strong to be able to tend to your parents, your family and your own welfare. During this time of COVID, our meetings are virtual, via Zoom. You'll need a computer, tablet or phone with a camera and sound capabilities. Please contact us so we can send you the link.
FREE OF CHARGE! RSVP to: Deanne Poulos @ 602-274-5022 ext. 5022.
or email poulos@duetaz.org
Saturday morning meeting 9:00-10:15am PST
**Welcome to the Parental Alienation Anonymous community.**
**Please go to our website [pa-a.org](https://parentalalienationanonymous.com/contact/) and sign and fill in the [contact page](https://parentalalienationanonymous.com/contact/). You will receive an automated email immediately, please check your spam if you don’t see the email. It will contain all meeting times and links as well as a link to community resources, PDFs about our support groups and other valuable information.**
**If you are new to our community you are welcome at any meeting. The topics vary and we suggest trying several meetings to find the ones that resonate with you. [We have 14 meetings a week all on zoom](https://parentalalienationanonymous.com/meeting-schedule/). The community is incredibly robust and includes folks from all over the world.**
**[PA-A is a support group](https://parentalalienationanonymous.com/what-is-a-12-step-meeting/) for people struggling with varying degrees of alienation, estrangement and erasure from their children, grandchildren, parents and other members of their extended family. This also includes previously alienated children. Meetings usually have 20-40 people attending. You can choose to have your camera on or off and participate or just listen.**
**PA-A is designed to support people in different phases of the alienation continuum, from those with absolutely no contact, to partial contact and to members who have reestablished regular contact. We are all struggling in unique ways. Our individual struggles all have common intersections, and it is this that brings us together to start the healing process.**
**We are a [12-step](https://parentalalienationanonymous.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/PA-A-Newcomer-Booklet.pdf) community. What this means is we are recovery based. We concentrate on working on solutions to our emotional, spiritual and physical challenges that arise out of alienation and all of our relationships. There are a lot of facebook groups and other resources out there. We differ considerably as we have a framework (Allanon) that has worked for over 70 years for people struggling with all sorts of interpersonal relationships. We have adapted this program for alienation.**
**The meetings have structure, a leader and a secretary that maintain safety and consistency. We use a timer so no one person can dominate a meeting. We also share in a way that supports and uplifts our community. This is really useful if you feel stuck, hopeless and alone. It keeps us out of the spiral of alienation and gives us a way out.**
**Some people think once their alienated child or family member is back in their lives that reconnection will be a relatively smooth process, but the reality is that recovery is a lifelong journey. As PA-A grows in numbers and strength, we will learn how to heal and thrive as a community. Some of the greatest support I receive is in my daily integration of rebuilding a relationship with one of my daughters.**
**We as a community have had so many success stories of people reuniting and more importantly seeing people in early stages that have some contact with their loved ones deepen and heal before full on alienation sets in.**
**Please send any questions to [parentalalienationanonymous@gmail.com](mailto:parentalalienationanonymous@gmail.com)**

Kids Meditation
**\*\*Please register at [onlinemeditationevents.com/class/kids-meditation/](onlinemeditationevents.com/class/kids-meditation/)**
How can I help my child improve focus? How can I help my child manage their emotions? Can my child learn meditation? These are questions parents ask us as meditation instructors. As parents, we want to help our children as best as we can, but we don't have all the answers.
Discover how meditation can help your child manage their emotions, focus better, and lessen everyday stress. We will introduce your child to a simple meditation which will help them to overcome challenges and become truly happy, self-confident and compassionate individuals.
A few comments our kids use to describe the meditation are “fun”, refreshing”, light.” They say "" they feel calmer, happier, more focused and less selfish."" Parents have also said how much they enjoy being in the class.
Give them the tools they need to have a deeper understanding of themselves and enjoy a happy, and healthy life.
Join us! Our program is interactive and fun. Make new friends! Turn this time of isolation into an opportunity to strengthen your child's well-being.
Listening Hour
What it is
A weekly 1 hour connection and empathy space currently hosted by people who have experience in NVC, for anyone interested in NVC.
This is not a workshop but a peer listening space to encourage listening.
Who it’s for
Everyone who is interested in NVC is welcome. No need for formal training but it’s great if you have been to some trainings.
Come if you want to practice listening.
Come if you’d enjoy a listening ear.
What happens
We offer a structure which offers clear guidance to everyone about what to do.
Format (Each host will hold the space in a slightly different way but the overall structure will be the same)
• Check-in
• breakout into 3s for empathy and listening. (Empathy guidelines will be given and you can respond to the generative question ‘What do you want empathy for or to talk through?’)
• Closing
Self responsibility
This is a reminder that everyone is responsible for themselves and we encourage you to take care of your own emotional safety.
Bear in mind your listening partners aren’t trainers or therapists.
Is there any cost?
We’re offering these sessions for free as we’d like to contribute to making empathy support more accessible, especially during these challenging times. Afterwards, if you are moved to do so, and can afford it, we’d be grateful for a donation to our chosen organisation:
NVC Matters (the national organisation for NVC in the UK): Bank account: 65414848 SC: 089299
Please register here to get the zoom link sent to you for each session https://subscribepage.io/LHsignup
Amplify your Relations
Every human after listening & understanding the relationship term always dreams to have the perfect one, despite that, very few can have it.
We get busy in the routine activities that we miss out on the small efforts to make each other special. And we misinterpret that it is because of the work that we have, whereas the fact is that the real problem is always different from small issues that we keep repeating to each other like fading enthusiasm, long working hour, lack of personal space to sit in each other arms, not having a romantic character or more clingy character, unpleasant sexual chemistry, lack of efforts to beautify the relation, social circle issues, and behavioral issues.
Having a good relationship is the best thing to encourage your well-being, according to various researches and we are leaving only that factor behind and working on every part of our life. So let's work on an integral part too.
We are inviting every being here, who want to locate the real problem and amplify their relations!

Freestyle Night (Bring Wine)
**On Freestyle night** \- just bring a bottle to share\. There is NO formal wine tasting like on other weeks\. Door charge is $10 \(cash or Venmo only please\)\. We may have some left over wines to clear out\! Glasses are provided\. Take Care\. See you there\.
**Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. I am told that the Chase parking lot is safe after hours.
**Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass! (ps - empty the glasses into the sink, not the trash ... please)
**Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing.
**Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions.
**After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee.
Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends.
Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***,
**Red 1 Realty**
*Your Hilliard Wine Club Host*
