**IMPORTANT:** Due to construction at our previous meeting location which closed down the parking lot we've temporarily moved the starting location to **Brushy Creek Lake Park**. The relevant information has been updated to reflect this. Join us for our **recurring** scenic **6.6-mile (10.6-km)** evening at the Brushy Creek Regional Trail in Cedar Park! We’ll take a relaxed pace through one of the city’s most beautiful trails. The hike should take about **2 hours**. **ℹ️ Additional info** The purpose of this specific event is to have a recurring way for us to meet relatively easily. I want to make sure that recurring events are a "low effort" commitment, ie you don't have to drive 2 hours to get there. In the future once we have more organizers I plan to have more recurring events scheduled so we can cover a larger area. Also, you may have noticed that **this event has an RSVP limit**. This is done for multiple reasons. If you've been wanting to try out acroyoga, we welcome you to our weekly beginner orientation lesson, part of our regular Friday jam (open practice). Through games and calibrations, you'll understand key body mechanics essential to acro, and then learn several basic poses and how to transition between them. Dr. Pinn's scholarship is incredibly vast and spans decades. We can't cover it all here, but here are a few intriguing tidbits from his website: * "Pinn [...] made his initial mark on the academy with *Why, Lord? Suffering and Evil in Black Theology* (1995), galvanizing Pinn as an African American humanist and **solidifying African American humanism as an historic, non-theistic religious orientation for African Americans**." * "More than simply traditional, organized theistic belief and practice, **black religion is fundamentally a quest to answer and address the who, what, when, where and why of human existence in general**, in terms set against the backdrop of the particular history of dehumanization and terror experienced by African Americans." * "Pinn’s *Embodiment and the New Shape of Black Theological Thought* (2010) extends the discussion of embodiment that accompanies much of his work, offering guiding points for future black theological scholarship, as well as presenting a detailed depiction of the practical application of “the quest for complex subjectivity” as theory of black religion.
